New My Dying Bride EP 2011-09-07 by Metalstyles | 5 Comments | My Dying Bride will be releasing a new EP, titled The Barghest O' Whitby, on November 7th via Peaceville Records on both CD and limited vinyl.
The band had this to say about the upcoming EP: "Carrying straight on from the success of ‘Evinta’ found us kind of out of breath for a second, we were already aware of a new-found love of all things bleak and grey and were eager to start writing in a more traditional My Dying Bride style. What did catch us off guard was the increased heaviness and the fresh approach to song writing. Moving away somewhat with the lyrical theme from our usual feeding ground, we found ourselves on the rainy moors of Yorkshire contemplating the story of the Barghest; a supernatural entity hell bent on revenge. The tale now to be told wove itself into a 25minute epic which initially we thought would be a 3 part EP, but it simply became one very long song full of everything My Dying Bride and more. The violins conjure lonely tears atop a chasm of epic British doom."
‘The Barghest O’ Whitby’ was recorded at Futureworks Studios, Manchester with the band's long-time production partner & engineer, Mags. The release is the first to feature violin/keyboardist Shaun Macgowan and sees the return of Shaun “Winter“ Taylor Steels behind the kit for this recording.

I'll check this out with the lowest of hopes. ALODK and FLIS were really boring imo.
| | | For Lies I Sire was pretty meh, but I don't understand why people don't recognize A Line of Deathless Kings as some of their strongest work :/
That said, I don't ever hold high hopes for these guys but I think they are due for an upswing. If not now, then the next LP right? right?
| | | despite the last few releases being disappointing, i'm really excited to hear a 25 minute my dying bride track. looking forward to this. :]
| | | Thought they broke up.

this.
I won't anticipate much for this EP.
After all, full-lengths matter the most.
