disappointing
| |
I'm sorry, but I thought that was a total mess. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of disappointed fans out there.
| |
disappointing but not awful
| |
most blink fans aren't huge on independent thought, so i doubt it
| |
I'm like 30 seconds in, already sounds...bad.
| |
Well that was alot worse then i thought it was going to be.
What the hell was up with that intro? it sounded horrible
| |
so it sounds like their entire career?
weird...
| |
The intro riff is pretty lame/boring.
| |
Ok, this was bad. 2/5
| |
blink sucks anyways
| |
what just happened
| |
and this is lol worthy
| |
oh yeah pree bad
| |
that is just too AVA
| |
Not catchy, which is the only reason to listen to Blink in the first place.
| |
they needa go back to their late 90s/early 00s sound.
| |
blink sucks anyways
^This
| |
bad
| |
yeah pretty bad, sounds like they mashed together three ideas (the intro/breakdown as some people are calling it, the verse and the AVA emo part) that did not work at all.
| |
this is why bands shouldn't try new things or attempt to expand their sound
| |
Oh my god...from a pop punk fanboy who absolutely LOVES BLINK-182, this is just SO SHIT. The parts with vocals are really good, but they're pretty bland, and the parts without vocals are just retarded electronics and shitty chord riffs.
| |
"this is why bands shouldn't try new things or attempt to expand their sound?
Bands can do it...just don't make it sound like shit.
| |
intro was pretty weird but the rest didn't sound bad. I never really got into blink though
| |
why do people think this worse than the rest of their songs?
| |
"this is why bands shouldn't try new things or attempt to expand their sound"
amen to that
| |
Considering I've been waiting for this album since elementary school I guess this probably counts as the biggest letdown ever. Really, it's just bad. I'm hoping it will grow a little bit, but I'm not even holding out much hope for that.
| |
taxi that was totally in jest
although in blink's case it's probably true. play simple, fast 3-chord pop-punk with dick and fart jokes or go back on hiatus plz.
| |
I like it quite a bit. Not amazing or anything, but it sounds like they're still progressing and like this is where they would be had they not broken up after their last album. Alot heavier than you'd expect from Blink, but I like it.
Good song. Not amazing, but good. Cannot fucking wait for the new album.
| |
"although in blink's case it's probably true. play simple, fast 3-chord pop-punk with dick and fart jokes or go back on hiatus plz."
Hahaha, basically.
| |
Dont get too pissed off about it. Ive always found the first single brought out by artists is the worst off the entire album.
| |
Not even on crack would i listen to this
| |
"Dont get too pissed off about it. Ive always found the first single brought out by artists is the worst off the entire album."
"Feeling This" shits all over this song.
| |
All their early, immature shit was so much better than this.
| |
I hate Blink, but this is one of their songs that I dislike the least.
| |
that is just too AVA
[2]
| |
so you hate good blink and like bad blink
cool you have shit taste in music
| |
what dimsim said sums it up.
Feeling this was a good song, but i thought it was the worst on the S/t album.
Im just keeping positive about their new album, been looking forward to it for ages.
| |
this was pretty awesome idk what the fuck you assholes are talking about
| |
seriously are you analysing a blink-182 song
| |
lol butthurt
song sucks
| |
so you hate good blink and like bad blink
cool you have shit taste in music
Didn't say I liked it. Actually, I said DISLIKED it. Learn to fucking reeeead you degenerate.
| |
even the fact that Mark and Tom are alternating lines and going back and forth fails to make this feel like blink cause of their weird/overproduced sounding voices. This really makes me miss pre-hiatus blink.
| |
I didn't like Tom's voice too much but I think it's a lot better than most of you
| |
song is meh
| |
it's not better than me
| |
it's not better than me [2]
| |
Sounds like Angels and Airwaves with Mark Hoppus.
| |
Old riff was old. The riff at the beginning/end of the song was written back for the s/t

| |
i like it.
| |
i liked that. sounded like if angels and airwaves were a lot better.
| |
No me gusta.
| |
Hm not impressed.
| |
Sounds more mature than their normal stuff. Not great but it shows signs of progression.
| |
Tell me the best Blink songs to listen to, never heard a song from them besides dammit.
| |
never really liked blink.
song fucking sucked.
| |
"it shows signs of progression"
in the wrong direction
| |
obvious progression. can't stay 19 forever
| |
Pretty lame, Milhouse.
| |
hoping that was just a failed experiment on the album and that the rest of the songs rule.
| |
Sounds like Angels and airwaves without the use of reverberating ping pong delay and heavier Box Car Racer-esque riffing.
| |
progression isn't always a good thing you fucking retards
| |
that was sooooooooooooooooo bad
| |
terrible
| |
oh god. this is just another AVA song, what the fuck? i quite enjoy AVA, but keep the spacey anthems to AVA and the fast punk to blink, jeez.
| |
yea this isnt good they should go back to their dude ranch days but nah that would be too awesome
| |
had moderately high hopes but generally low expectations for this. this sits in the middle.
| |
Hope rest of the album is better
| |
that is just too AVA
[3]
guess this is all the influences coming together. tom has sounded off on even their classic songs trying is AVA style vocals since their reformation (which I have not been a fan of). I'm gonna wait this one out and see how it goes.
*edit*
after a few listens its growing on me slowly... progression like the self-titled?
| |
i must be the only person that actually likes the song then
| |
you and the fags on youtube yea
| |
progression for blink aint good and doesnt need to be done.
| |
I've noticed that Tom's chorus vocal line is really similar to that of his chorus vocal line on "Valkyrie Missile" by AVA. Anyone else pick that up?
| |
My friend loves it but I was never a blink fan so I can't comment
| |
All my friends that I have heard it like this.
| |
are they female?
Maybe it's a female thing
| |
Nah. They're all dudes. They didn't jizz over it and go "that's fuckin' awesome", but they said it was "great".
| |
Harry Potter disappoints me.....and this is what I come home to.
| |
You didn't like Deathly Hallows 2? I haven't seen it, but people seem to be jizzing over it.
| |
I give it like a 6. But I guess I couldn't expect much more, it's not like the movies have a reputation for being any good.
| |
I don't follow the potter. I haven't seen any since OOTP. When HP7P2 comes out on DVD I'll probably have some kind of Harry Potter marathon though
| |
*spouts harry potter viewing habits for... what reason?*
I like to watch the even numbered movies, then I read the odd numbered books, then I watch the odd
numbered movies, then I read the even numbered books, then I eat booger-flavored jellybeans while
hanging upside down from a closet-stick and drinking butterbeer
| |
Okay...
| |
"Harry Potter disappoints me"
whut? HP was fucking glorious.
| |
hows the 3d
| |
It was painfully mediocre.
| |
"It was painfully mediocre."
HP8's 3D or 182's Single? ZING
| |
lol harry potter yea dude nah stfu
| |
the new harry potter is fucking incredible u haterz..
WHat u on about
| |
I heard Blink182 is composing the entire soundtrack of HP 9
| |
Harry Potter books are where it's at guys.
| |
Nothing they record in the future will ever top their s/t.
| |
or enema of the state, for that matter
| |
Goddamn that was boring.
| |
The song rules, shut up you fucking retards.
| |
It's growing on me...
| |
This song is SO fucking generic imo.
| |
Needs more inappropriate jokes and less shitty ass Angels and Airwaves.
| |
its alright. But honestly, i don't really care
| |
oh my fucking god this is gay
| |
i can't believe i was naive enough to hope this would be better though. tom is just... shit
| |
painfully forgettable
| |
fuck the haters, blink rock!
| |
those electronics are just sooooo cheesy. and tom's ava complex needs to foad
| |
So are they releasing this as the first single? This album is gonna flop hard if they do.
| |
after 10 years I hope they have learned about the interwebs, listen to the fans and go back to the drawing board because that song truly sucked
we need dude ranch 2.0
| |
Am I the only one who has always hated this band? They suck now and they always have. The just suck more now than they did before.
| |
Love it!
| |
It wasn't bad at all.
| |
"Ultimately, it was always the songcraft that really differentiated Blink from their less-talented peers, and that’s still on display in “Up All Night”—the heavy-to-soft transitions feel awkward at first, but by the time that chugging riff sees the song out, it gets into your head and starts to make sense. But it doesn’t feel like a slam dunk the way all their other lead singles have—it’s more like a solid supporting album track than a face-slapping first impression that announces the band’s return with authority and leaves you craving more."
Sums it up perfectly for me
| |
I mean i cant say that I wasn't expecting to be dissappointed but the heavy ish riff was kinda cool. but its still no old blink.
| |
it's the prechorus bit that sounds too alike to ava, but other than that it's a good song
| |
that is just too AVA
[3]
| |
i'll download the album anyways, even if it sucks, only for nostalgia's sake
| |
Seriously, don't get the hate. It's a combination of everything the guys have done post-Enema, with still a hint of progression. Sure, it's nowhere near the best thing they've done, but it's a good sign for the album.
| |
Also, if you seriously think the band were better in their immature days, you really are a fucking idiot
| |
God I hate this band.
| |
band was better in their immature days. they got huge after what's my age again. you know, that video where they run around naked. enema of the state was a genius ode to immaturity. don't get it twisted
| |
I'm pretty sure they said that they're still gonna be immature so don't fret
| |
and Janine is still hot
| |
band was better in their immature days. they got huge after what's my age again. you know, that video where they run around naked. enema of the state was a genius ode to immaturity. don't get it twisted
Don't get me wrong, Enema was still a great album. But, aside from Dammit and Stay Together respectfully, Dude Ranch and TYPOAJ were nothing but filler. While the self-titled was genuinely one of the best albums of the decade
| |
nah ur wrong
| |
kinda disappointing. I'll enjoy this album regardless
/fanboy
| |
"But, aside from Dammit and Stay Together respectfully, Dude Ranch and TYPOAJ were nothing but filler."
Couldn't be more wrong. This is pop-punk music. It's supposed to be immature to some degree. This single just poorly slaps together a bunch of different genres and adds Tom's preachy AVA singing/lyrics. Boring.
| |
...Did Titan50 just say that Dude Ranch was nothing but filler?
Are you fucking crazy? There's basically zero filler on that entire album, it's far and away their best work from their early days and is a serious candidate for the single greatest pop-punk record ever made.
I'm in awe that someone could think Dude Ranch was nothing but filler. Have you even listened to the fucking thing? Every song rules.
| |
yea dude ranch is their best album hands down
| |

| |
It's so retarded how everyone is screaming "IT'S POP PUNK IT'S MEANT TO BE FUN THIS ISN'T FUN!!!"
If your definition of pop-punk is fun and you don't find this fun then the best way to go about it would be to say, "This isn't pop-punk!" Not, "This is shit pop-punk!"
| |
It's above average
| |
I mean if you think the song is shit then fine but hating it because it doesn't fit into your neat little idea of what a band should be based on what they used to be then you're pretty fuckin' stupid.
| |
The song's not bad. I'm just happy to have Blink back.
Haters can eat dicks.
| |
I didnt like this much.. Way to popish
| |
Popish as in, similar to the Pope?
| |
What's up with that electronic sequence throughout the whole damn song? It sounds awful. Other than that the song isn't bad but I can see it getting old quick.
| |
didnt like it at first but definitly grew on me after listening to it a bunch of times. Still excited for the album and tour. fuck all you people hatin
| |
its not that terrible. was expecting a little more though
| |
experimentation at its worst
| |
oh
that was disapointing
| |
oh well...
| |
Blink and Airwaves
I miss Enema-style stuff
| |
i can dig this. nothing amazing. but still good.
| |
Would be good as an AvA song, not a Blink song. Rest of the album better not be like this.
| |
Would be good as an AvA song, not a Blink song. Rest of the album better not be like this.
What the fuck does this even fucking mean? You're an idiot.
| |
Why does everyone on this site feel the need to agree with each other? I thought this was great
| |
The more I listen to it, the less I dislike it. May be a grower...
| |
"The song rules, shut up you fucking retards." [2]
This was great. Harry Potter, however, was alright at best.
| |
"Why does everyone on this site feel the need to agree with each other? I thought this was great"
LOL WHAT?
| |
I loved the self titled, this is alright. Not the triumphant return I was hoping for though, just sounds like a weak B-side or something.
| |
This is the kind of single that will only do well because of the band name behind it. Sure, some people will like the song, but as a whole this is depressingly weak as far as its commercial appeal goes.
| |
I kinda liked it.
| |
no no, harry potter ruled
| |
calm down a lil knott
Also, if you seriously think the band were better in their immature days, you really are a fucking idiot
enough with comments like this, really. it's a question of what one looks for in music; i personally just enjoy the more youthful and passionate nature of albums like enema, which i found really perfectly blended their childish, fun side with their musically talented, emotional sort of side.
| |
as far as this song, the only parts i really enjoy are the pre-chorus and chorus.
| |
Also, if you seriously think the band were better in their immature days, you really are a fucking idiot
this is probably the dumbest fucking thing ever said on sputnik
| |
I'm curious as to what the band were thinking playing this over, guessing at the world's reaction.
| |
ok i hated this on first listen, but god it is catchy, it's been stuck on my head for a couple hours now
| |
Also, if you seriously think the band were better in their immature days, you really are a fucking idiot
yep you're retarded
| |
if i want maturity i'll listen to susan boyle
| |
dang
thats pretty uh
thats pretty desperate
| |
"if i want maturity i'll listen to susan boyle"
I only listen to her when I want ear AIDS.
| |
i've never actually listened to her. had to google "ugly british chick who can sing" in order to remember her name.
seriously, though, this sucks. worse that the s/t even.
| |
woah satty their s/t is their best what
| |
UhhKris is right.
Sup, Eno.
| |
eww no way
"go" is the only worthwhile song on there
| |
s/t is the first of theirs i ever listened to
it has a special place in my tiny, tiny heart
| |
"Stockholm Syndrome" is their best song.
| |
I miss Enema-style stuff [2]
| |
What is AVA?
| |
Angels And Airwaves?
| |
It's a self-titled b-side with AVA-Tom vocals and shit.
| |
Right here.
| |
yea this isn't a s/t b-side lol
| |
Actually, I'm not a total fucktard so I was able to surmise that it's Angels and Airwaves. Just wanted to say this: "Because A&A would make too much sense."
| |
[quote]"Because A&A would make too much sense."[quote]
tell that to tom delonge and stop bitching
| |
Sorry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings.
| |
His daughter's name is Ava, so that's why he did that. The 'V' is an upside down A. Yeah, it's gay.
| |
Well, I guess it rather makes sense that way. Just can't really picture it with standard script.
| |
lame
| |
lol hurt my feelings you are just special
| |
ava sucks dick lol
| |
lol hurt my feelings you are just special
So my momma's been telling me.
| |
Nah that LOVE album was pretty good some great tunes on that.
| |
i listened to the first album for ages, still pretty good. nothing on blink though~
| |
This reaally sucks.Tom is a serious douchebag for what he made with AVA and this is pretty similiar..
| |
i liked the first ava album. blink's s/t is my favorite personally, though i love their late 90s stuff. i actually prefer buddha to the rest of their stuff because it has 21 days and girl next door. it also sounds kinda indie rock-ish
| |
This is awful. It's like AVA/heavy punk/radio rock all thrown into a blender and the result is what we have. Too bad they left out the blink-182. I liked the post-punk sound they were going for on the ST but this is freaking awful.
| |
Taught ten thousands bands how to play guitar, not blink's s/t. They were far more genuine and fun when they were, you know, genuine and fun. And if you listened to blink starting with Cheshire Cat to Dude Ranch and beyond, you'd have a completely different view on this band.
The song's not that bad either btw but not amazing
DR > s/t > Enema = TOYPAJ > CC
| |
sounds more like Angels and Airwaves am i right?
| |
They were far more genuine and fun when they were, you know, genuine and fun. And if you listened to blink starting with Cheshire Cat to Dude Ranch and beyond, you'd have a completely different view on this band.
this 100%. i started listening to them circa '99.
| |
yeah they definitely aren't the same band when grew up listening to them 12-13 years old. But maybe I was wrong for expecting them to be.
| |
blink-182 literally got me into everything I listen to to this day. They were my gateway to playing and listening to all music pretty much
| |
Dude Ranch is one of my oldest pop punk records.
EDIT: Really liking this track now.
| |
Everyone on this website is so fucking cynical. Calm down it wasn't even that bad. It sounds like you'd expect after hearing their last self-titled album and their other side projects.
| |
haha i never noticed all the blink albums (minus chesire) are rated exactly the same.
| |
fuck you guys; i liked it.
| |
breakdown is heavier then hell m/
| |
Dusting off the spiked bracelet
| |
It'd be weird if they still sounded like Dude Ranch considering they're in their late 30's. It's not the greatest thing they've done but it could've been worse. It sounds a bit like Boxcar, AVA, and the stuff from the s/t which is what I expected it to sound like considering that is the stuff they had done more recently...
| |
3/5
| |
i'm mostly kidding about dude ranch. i know they can't really recapture that sound. i wouldn't mind if it sounded like their self-titled, but to me it doesn't sound on par with anything from that album. most of that album was catchy right off the bat, which is a big part of what blink has always been, regardless of style or sound
| |
I like it. I just find it amusing to see people hating it for no apparent reason. If you want your immature pop-punk, then go listen to an immature band. And seriously how can any song with dick n fart joke be lyrically better than "all these demons keep me up all night"
| |
def sounds more like Angels and Airwaves than blink
| |
Also the heavy ish riff kicks ass.
| |
lol engrish
| |
i've never listened to angels and airwaves and i can honestly say it's pretty similar to blink's s/t so either i am weird or all of you are weird
maybe i should listen to angels and airwaves i might like them which concerns me
| |
think this song without the 'heavy riffs' and 'brutal breakdowns' and mark singing, and that annoying effect on his voice in the pre-chorus of this song, but always
do you think you would like that
| |
Dude Ranch has the riffs man
Those tasty riffs
| |
do you think you would like that probably. are the songs good
| |
look at me I can sound so edgy and mature in my music tastes by hating a popular band omg omg
| |
Too many elitist wankers here. Sputnik's population is comprised of 99.5% hipsters who prefer EVERYTHING OLD SKOOL FREE LOVE RELAX, and everything made post 2000 is utter rubbish, no matter the band or genre. Enjoy, you pretentious tools.
| |
i think the chorus to this song is so good, it's unfortunate that the rest is booty.
| |
It's definitely the best thing on there.
| |
I feel a need to make a definite character statement on all you guys based on your frivolous activity on an open music forum. Hardcore as hell.
| |
Aren't we just?
| |
lol scottyvee
| |
sup crowe
| |
Mediocre, at best.
| |
I'm now realizing that although I love Blink, I really really hate their fans. If you claim not to like this song you get a hundred responses saying "If you don't like this you're an idiot!" or "This song is AMAZING! They keep progressing and getting better!!!" and "Just cause there aren't dick jokes you hate it? Fuck you, you cocksucking motherfucker faggot ass piece of shit!" I guess I'm just "too stupid" to like this song, but I really don't think it's very good at all.
| |
Why can't The Lawrence Arms have a new song instead
| |
i've been waiting on this for so fucking long now.
and i actually like it. fuck you h8rz
| |
this has grown on me
| |
It does that.
| |
It's alright I guess
| |
"breakdown is heavier then hell m/"
Please for ther love of god be sarcasm...
| |
sup crowe
Hey, man. Shit's going good. You?
| |
Tom sounds like he's singing through a fan, what the hell?
| |
That's AVA-Tom.
| |
"I think i'm the only one who likes a couple ava albums."
No, I love all 3 albums.
| |
i could barely even hear mark.
| |
Some instrumental sections are pretty shocking!!
| |
the intro riff was pretty cool
| |
So fucking bad.
| |
i would just like to say i don't hate this song because it's not pop-punk (s/t was a nice evolution into post-punk), i hate this song because it's fucking awful
| |
I started writing a comment 3 times and backspaced it all.. i really don't know how approach saying that this song is bad.
| |
Everyone go to heartsallgone.com and do a Select All (CTRL+A) , new blink song and it kicks the crap out of Up All Night
| |
^ That song is awesome, it smacks a bit of Dude Ranch, which I approve of. Promising.
| |
If blink released an incredibly juvenile, incredibly catchy song throngs of fans would return and all would be well
| |
