album pretty much sucks anyways. and lol at Sage being the forefather of indie rap.
|
| |
"lol" at you having a Doomtree logo as your avatar while "digging" Big Quarters and having the fucking gall to disparage the guy who has done a considerable amount for both of them and their scene.

Uncle Frank is upset y'all.
|
| |
haha Uncle Frank got pretty mad there. For some reason every time I make a negative comment about Sage Francis or when I wrote a 2.5 review of his last album, all these new users pop up just to comment on that and nothing else. I'm thinking Sage Francis just has a bunch of Sputnik accounts and uses them to defend himself.
and I never said Sage wasn't influential, just not THE forefather of indie rap. Considering Company Flow and Atmosphere were both doing it at least 5-6 years before him.
|
| |
Hey i just posted this because that vinyl is amazing and best of times is one of the best raps ive ever listened to also Uncle frank is the man, no offense inveigh
|
| |
ya but no one was doing anything like Personal Journals before sage
|
| |
you mean besides the Lucy and Ford EPs by Atmosphere which came out like 3 years earlier?
also, never said I didn't dig that album (PJ), because I do. I just think it's a stretch to call him the forefather of indie rap. I love Mac Lethal, and he started releasing albums at the same time as Sage, but I'd never refer to him as the forefather of indie rap either.
|
| |
ehh, the vast majority of lucy ford isn't nearly as "personal".
but ya, sage definently isn't the forefather of indie rap. The forefather of "emo-rap" though I think is fair
|
| |
I generally don't like the term emo-rap, but whatever you want to call it, he definitely at the least reinvented it with that album. I would go as far as to say he's maybe the most important/influential "slam-poetry" artist; I just think saying he's the forefather of indie rap is a little too much.
|
| |
what the fuck is emo-rap?
|
| |
bhoooldawgg
|
| |
The forefather of indie-rap is obviously The White Stripes. Either them or Tegan and Sara.
|
| |
I would say Company Flow were the forefathers of indie rap.
this album sucks btw Personal Journals is great A Healthy Distrust is good, albums after that are wack
|
| |
moar liek opeth
|
| |
yeah I'm with somberlain, except I think it's basically a toss up between CoFlo and Atmosphere, they started at essentially the same time and spawned the two most vibrant indie rap scenes (midwest/Minneapolis for Atmos and northeast/New York for CoFlo)
But yeah Personal Journals is pretty awesome
|
| |
needs moar indiefap
|
| |
bitchforks the man hahah
