bullshit. guy should go fuck himself
|
| |
No he shouldn't, if the guy actually wrote the song he should get credit for it.
|
| |
well that's a bitch.
|
| |
No one really cares, Mr Holmes, just be impressed that your song was ripped off by none other than LED FUCKING ZEPPELIN
|
| |
(reserving judgement until I hear this guy's version)
|
| |
Was just about to post this. Not terribly surprising seeing as how they're known for ripping off blues artists. Still, it's Led Zeppelin.
|
| |
lol talk about late reaction
|
| |
zeppelins is better so idc
|
| |
This has been known for years. Guy FINALLY decides to sue?
|
| |
I guess he's not really in it for the money? What a strange lawsuit.
|
| |
hmm... odd
|
| |
lol
|
| |
Roy Harper will be suing next
|
| |
guess this dude just wants bragging rights..and his rent paid. I mean, how much $ could this song have made in the last 3 years?
but shit, if Led Zeppelin re-mixed one of my songs, I'd like everyone to know lol..even if it was like 50 years later
|
| |
I would think the WHOLE statute of limitations might have expired on this one...not just the "three years" part.
|
| |
Yeah, that was pretty obvious, so just give the man his credit and let's move on. It's not like anyone's going to stop listening to Zeppelin's version if they do.
|
| |
looks like someone needs money
|
| |
This is really weird I just read about this like 3 days ago. BTW it's pretty much indisputable that the song was originally written by him.

|
| |
this makes me happy, jimmy page is a douchebag, and i pretty much hate led zeppelin.
|
| |
cool article. it makes me dislike metallica even further.
|
| |
Makes me love them even more.
|
| |
I bet Jimmy Page is "dazed and confused" about this lawsuit :D
|
| |
he's just getting sued cause he's SATANIC!
|
| |
Jimmy's confused; he's not used to being on this side of a lawsuit.
|
| |
What a dick. Seriously.
He had his chance to sue, it should be too late now.
|
| |
bull. FUCKING. shit.
what? they ripped off your song, and it only took you 31 years to realize this and take action?
|
| |
don't care they played it and made it successful...
|
| |
If true, take em for all the money you can.
a) Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page haven't been relevant for years and years.
b) Everyone wants a payday, they got theirs when they used the song. Nows your turn no-name guy.
|
| |
The original (Jake Holmes Version) is way better than the Zeppelin Version.
|
| |
why even bother now
|
| |
Guy just want a little bit of credit, and he won't get that much money out of it, so he'll probably win.
|
| |
so this dude had this revelation 40 years later? interesting..
|
| |
I hope 30 years from now someone sues The Black Eyed Peas....again.
|
| |
Led Zeppelin are one of the most unoriginal bands of all time so I'm not surprised.
|
| |
If anything, AC/DC was ripping off Black Dog. First AC/DC album was released four years after Black Dog was released.
|
| |
Let's not compare overrated, unoriginal bands.
|
| |
lol original is cool as fuck
|
| |
How is Led Zeppelin unoriginal? What bands of their era sounded like them?
|
| |
How is Led Zeppelin unoriginal? What bands of their era sounded like them?
They ripped off a lot of blues, folk, pop and psychedelic bands from decades before and even from that
era.
Listen to the band Spirit, the band Zeppelin opened for on their first tours.
|
| |
Led Zeppelin aren't blues, folk, pop, or psychedelic. And I don't see the similarity to Spirit either. Even if they did steal quite a bit of stuff, they at least translated it into their own sound, so they're not completely unoriginal. They should definitely have given credit to the original artists though.
|
| |
This will more than likely to settle out of court though.
|
| |
"Led Zeppelin aren't blues, folk, pop, or psychedelic."
LOL WUT?
The Battle of Evermore - Folk
Since I've Been Loving You - Blues
Wikipedia's Characteristics of Psychedelic rock;
1. electric guitars, often used with feedback, wah wah and fuzzboxes
2. elaborate studio effects, such as backwards tapes, panning, phasing, long delay loops, and
extreme reverb
3. exotic instrumentation, with a particular fondness for the sitar and tabla
4. a strong keyboard presence, especially organs, harpsichords, or the Mellotron (an early tape-
driven 'sampler')
5. a strong emphasis on extended instrumental solos or jams
6. more complex song structures, key and time signature changes, modal melodies and drones
7. surreal, whimsical, esoterically or literary-inspired, lyrics.
1 - Yeah, have you heard this band?
2 - Stairway to Heaven is supposedly a satan worship in reverse lol.
3 - So what if they don't use a fucking Sitar
4 - Into to Trampled Under Foot
5 - The live 20 min. versions of Moby Dick, Whole Lotta Love, and Dazed and Confused on How The West
Was Won.
6 - The intro of The Ocean switches between 2 measures of 4/4 and 1 of 7/4
7 - The Battle of Evermore is about Lord of the Rings.
Lets try to at least have SOME ounce of evidence to back up your absurd statements.
In other news the guy shouldn't have waited 42 years to press charges lol, even if it was
plagiarized.
|
| |
Led Zeppelin aren't blues, folk, pop, or psychedelic. And I don't see the similarity to Spirit either.
I really hope you're not serious.
|
| |
I wish I had half the money this guy was asking for. damned rich people
|
| |
"This will more than likely to settle out of court though."
Yea, that's what always happens. Suing for musical IP rarely ever get's settled in court.
|
| |
Sometimes Led Zeppelin genre crosses but they generally maintain a rock sound. Now that I think about it though, there's a decent amount of blues influence in some of their songs.
|
| |
[quote] he can only claim money owed during the past three years, due to the statute of limitations. [/quot]
Only? That's still probably a fuckton of money
|
| |
Sometimes Led Zeppelin genre crosses but they generally maintain a rock sound.
You're starting to contradict yourself.
|
| |
i'd do it
|
| |
Dazed and Confused was first released in '69... and he comes up with this now?
|
| |
"Sometimes Led Zeppelin genre crosses but they generally maintain a rock sound. Now that I think about it though, there's a decent amount of blues influence in some of their songs."
Well good, all i wanted is for you think, even if you are contradicting yourself.
|
| |
If anything, AC/DC was ripping off Black Dog. First AC/DC album was released four years after Black Dog was released.
I'm pretty sure Black Dog is actually a ripoff of an old blues song too lol.
|
| |
Took him long enough
|
| |
^^A lot of Zeppelin songs are.
|
| |
give the guy the credit he deserves...
|
| |
Why would he sue now? Besides, Zep's version is better regardless.
|
| |
fuck led zeppelin ,
"Sometimes Led Zeppelin genre crosses but they generally maintain a rock sound. Now that I think about it though, there's a decent amount of blues influence in some of their songs."
really?
|
| |
Took this guy a long time to sue, it's been well known for a while it was ripped off.
|
| |
true, but regardless, led zeppelin are so overrated it's annoying as fuck.
|
| |
Bout damn time. A lot of Zeppelin's stuff is stolen covers that aren't credited.
|
| |
lol lenny
|
| |
I'm a Zeppelin fan myself. But in all fairness half their songs were rip offs of other bands. Just listen to the song 'Taurus' by Spirit (1968) and tell me that isn't the 'Stairway to Heaven' guitar lick in it.
|
| |
old article, but i just need to say fucking lol at people coming to page's defense here. lz are some of the biggest plagiarizers in music history.
|
| |
JUSTICE!
|
| |
Page gives u half credit asshole
also y bring it up now, is it just to b a bigger ass
|
| |
"No he shouldn't, if the guy actually wrote the song he should get credit for it. "
The point is that Page made it a fucking classic. He admits that he couldn't have done what Page did. Give the guy a few beers.
