Jeff Buckley 1994 Session

2010-02-22 by Skimaskcheck | 12 Comments
Radio station KCRW have posted a free stream of a live session of the late Jeff Buckley. The session, recorded in 1994 came just before the release of Buckley's iconic album, Grace.

KCRW’s Chris Douridas recalls, “I remember it being a very busy time for us at KCRW and I confess, I initially didn’t respond positively to Columbia Records’ efforts to get Jeff a spot on our show”.

Well, at least it's free and not sending any more money to his mum. She's been riding that gravy train for far too long.

It's cool how the DJ is awkward around Jeff at first but after he hears a couple of songs he becomes friendlier and more interested. Jeff had such charm.

It was neat to hear him do Corpus Christi Carol live, I'm not sure I've heard that before. The DJ was pretty awkward throughout the whole thing, although I wonder if the Genesis comment partly inspired his Back in NYC cover.

Hearing this really makes me wanna give Grace another spin. Haven't listened to it fully for ages. Amazing guy, amazing singer & an amazing album.

It's really cool hearing them talking about him as an obscure artist about to release his debut album without having a clue how legendary he would eventually become

Awesome performance. After hearing this I would once again wish there was more than only one studio album in his discography.
