Kevin Eubanks To Leave Leno Show

2010-02-16 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 24 Comments
Bandleader Kevin Eubanks, longtime leader of Jay Leno's Tonight Show and Prime Time Show bands, will leave the partnership when Leno resumes his Tonight Show berth later next month.

The show is due to begin airing on March 1, and guitarist Eubanks, who is currently negotiating the terms of his departure, will continue to perform on the show until a replacement is found and bedded in.

A statement by network NBC read: “Kevin has expressed interest in pursuing personal touring and recording opportunities; however, he will be with the show when it returns.”

Eubanks did not offer any specific reason for his departure, however the renowned jazz guitarist has been a member of Leno's band for over 17 years, taking over the role of bandleader from Branford Marsalis in 1995.
