Live Die

2009-12-01 by Observer EMERITUS | 39 Comments
Pennsylvania alt rockers Live have called it quits after 21 years.

In a blog post, guitarist Chad Taylor explained that a legal issue with singer Ed Kowalczyk and the rest of the band lead to the decision to finally end things.

Taylor wrote: "The final blow was Ed’s request for a $100,000 'lead singer bonus' to perform as surprise guests at this years Pink Pop Festival. I was informed of his request by our management and politely told them to 'fuck off.'"

Taylor left the door open that there might be a future for the band at a later time, but they currently have no plans to replace the frontman. "Ed will no longer be the vocalist for the band Live," Taylor said. "At this point in time, we have made no official plans to replace him but it is clear that he is no friend of mine or the lifelong fans of Live."

Chad Taylor, along with bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Graves, have joined with Candlebox singer Kevin Martin and Sean Hennessy of the Royal Kings to form a new band, the Gracious Few.

Got to love the article title
Wasn't a monster fan and found them pretty average but it's always sad when a band dies

They had some really great songs. Throwing Copper is a pretty solid album actually. I'll check out The Gracious Few, seeing as I really like Candlebox.

So this may not be anything new, but Ed Kowalczyk is officially a pretencious piece of shit

I'm with you Asaf...Lakini's Juice is a haunting track, intro can definately get me pumped

So did Ed develop a huge smack addiction or buy a small island or something?

Pretty sure it's wired.
