A FFAF 'best of' compilation should have absolutely nothing on it
|
| |
is that what this is? i heard the new title and thought it was a new album.
anyway, Leper's got it right
|
| |
Memory and Humanity was incredibly overwhelming.
Won't be picking this up, but good to know they know that.
|
| |
I love this band's first records but a best of? REALLY?! It seems kind of too soon for that.
|
| |
'This Year's Most Open Heartbreak' is a classic.
I also have a big emotional connection with Hours.
Walk Away is a rad song.
|
| |
^Same here.
Not cool LeperCon, not cool
|
| |
Truth doesn't necessarily have to be cool
|
| |
I love this band too, the last two albums were a let down and this is way too soon for a best of....thats like when Ill Nino released a Best of...or Atreyu...you should need to have been around for more than a decade to be allowed to release a best of album
|
| |
I think this is kind of a 'moving on' gesture, especially from Matt's comments about how these were the best of the band's "formative years" and how they're "still trying to rewrite the rock and roll music text book with everything [they]'ve done since then."
Which is really a shame, since Casually Dressed and Hours are two of my absolute favorite CDs, and everything since then has been a step down IMO.
|
| |
I find it depressing that their cover of Damage Inc (edited cuz I am a nab) wasn't even the worst thing they've done
|
| |
This band covering Leper Messiah (my favorite Metallica song) made me want to kill myself.
|
| |
band is fucking amazing but doesn't need a best of
|
| |
I didn't think these guys were even your thing, Altmer. I myself am somewhat partial to a track or two
off of Tales, but I really don't think they've done enough to justify a 'best of'
|
| |
I'm guessing that's about the only song you've heard by them then?
Glanced at your 5*'s, yea you'd probably kinda hate this.
|
| |
No, I've heard quite a good bit of theirs, certainly almost every song appearing on this compilation.
and i onli giv 5s 2 teh moast 1337 moozik
|
| |
Funeral For A Friend Best of CD?! Does that mean they're re-releasing CDADIC?
|
| |
A best of compilation without Rookie of the Year, Bend Your Arms to Look Like Wings, and Novella is not one worth having.
|
| |
Do they really have enough songs to release a best of?? I can think of like 3 songs I would put on it.
Surprised it isnt coming out at the end of November just in time for the xmas rush. -.-
|
| |
I like this band cause they're great live and have some pretty immense post-hardcore anthems from their early days.
Apparently I get thanked in the notes as well so 8)
How cool does that make me? (not very)
|
| |
tracks 1-8 are good...
|
| |
they're really gonna have a Singles collection out? guess they had to release something to make money this christmas and weren't done a new album. christmas tradition = getting best of albums from bands who don't have anything new to release.
|
| |
Yeah, this will be a good entry point for people who have never really heard of them, but that is pretty much it.
'Roses For The Dead' is their best song... & a great video as well.
|
| |
the first 3 tracks on CDADIC rule and I also enjoy Roses For The Dead but overall, FFAF are pretty meh for me.
|
| |
"Funeral For A Friend Best of CD?! Does that mean they're re-releasing CDADIC?"
I loled hard at this. True, but Hours had some great stuff too, Davey's right about 'Roses'.

| |
"I find it depressing that their cover of Leper Messiah wasn't even the worst thing they've done"
"This band covering Leper Messiah (my favorite Metallica song) made me want to kill myself. "
Uh, if you're refering to Kerrang's Master of Puppets tribute album they never covered Leper Messiah, they did Damage, Inc.
|
| |
Their first EPs and album were awesome. 'This Year's Most Open Heartbreak' is a classic.
I absolutely agree.

My mistake, I was so caught up in my bashing of them that I name-dropped the wrong track. It was still awful, as was Fightstar's Leper Messiah cover
|
| |
Where is Art Of American Football? At least, that opening riff burns.
|
| |
It's on the second CD in live acoustic form, which I haven't heard but should be interesting.

All good man, I do agree with you though.
Well actually, it wasn't terrible but by no means did they do that song any justice, it just ended up being a suprising and slightly amusing ending to that album.
And as for Fightstar........well the 'nuff said the better aye.
|
| |
"It's on the second CD in live acoustic form, which I haven't heard but should be interesting."
Just listened to the acoustic version on you tube. Unfortunately, they lay off the opening riff and focus more on clean vocals. Definitely does not hold a candle to the original unless you want to light some candles and hang out with your girlfriend.
|
| |
Holy shit, I honestly probably wouldn't have recognized that. Gah, i LIKE it, but it just isn't the same.
HHAHAHAA i just laughed really hard at the "Fuck them, fuck us" part, sung WAYY too sweetly. Wow.
