Manics 2008 Godlike Geniuses 2007-12-17 by Isola | 10 Comments | The Manics joins the ranks of The Clash, New Order and last years winner Primal Scream as being honoured with the "Godlike Geniuses Award" at the upcoming 2008 Shockwaves NME Awards.
“Well I’ve got to say, when our manager told us about it I just genuinely felt humbled and excited,” bassist Nicky Wire told NME.
He added: “We’ve won four BRIT Awards, Ivor Novellos, but it’s vindication. It feels like the best one because the NME is what I grew up with and for all its faults it still means a lot to me. It’s so fucking brilliant, honestly. It’s really made me feel fantastic.”
The Manic Street Preachers are also set to play a special "Big Gig" together with Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Klaxons and The Cribs after the ceremony.

McP3000 you've got to be shitting me... NME is a bunch of hacks who furiously fellate every new trend or "next big thing" and then pretend (when said band(s) have dissappeared) that they never liked them/heard of them!!!
yeah they occasionally give some award to a decent band (like the manics) in an attempt to fool people into thinking they're a magazine that care about actual music rather than trends, but in general, they're not worth anyone's time.
