Having listened to every album up to Individual Thought Patterns, this is my favorite Death release, followed by Leprosy. The greatest thing about getting into this band is having the knowledge that the next album is either gonna raise the bar or be at the same level of quality. It's been a long time since I went through a band's discography and have been so impressed with each and every release. That being said, I've yet to listen to Symbolic, an album that most fans say is the best offering from the band. Shit just keeps getting better. Yet, It's a shame to know that we will never hear Chuck's music again. As I go through his discog of albums it's the one nagging thought that ruins it just a little for me.

Never heard of these guys until recently from another review site. Their rocky history aside, this album is quite possibly one of the finest examples of a classic heavy metal sound mixed with power metal. Imagine Savatage combined with the thrash/power metal sound of Iced Earth. The vocalist does a really fine job too. A must listen for metal heads of all sub-genres.

Occasionally fun, high energy cornball power metal, and it's extremely cheesy. Good for
a listen or two, but really nothing worthwhile here. This album has nothing new to offer in
terms of substance and creativity.

A fun crossover thrash album with a few good moments, but this is largely predictable and
and not very creative. There is way more innovative 2012 thrash to choose from. Still, this
album was tolerable and decent enough for a listen or two, and for that it gets a 3.00/5

Nightmare (FRA) The Burden of God4.0
Kind of your standard power metal act, but this band really knows how to make an album. A rtruly decent effort with some pretty good songs. Traditional power metal with slight rsymphonic elements to boot. Shame this is going unnoticed around here.
Lonewolf Army Of The Damned2.0
While there is really nothing musically offensive or dreadfully terrible here, Lonewolf's Army of the Damned is a prefect example of bad vocals not working in tandem with the guitars and drums. Poorly structured songs, and absolutely no catchy material. The album sounds like its all over the place, seemingly lacking any direction or musical stability. An average album at best, but why even bother listening to this crap? Way better 2012 power metal out there to choose from.
Freedom Call Land of the Crimson Dawn3.0
Dew-Scented Icarus3.0
Pretty heavy and aggressive sounding Thrash/Death metal. Album is decent, but lacks
variation, as the band's aggressive musical assault tends to become a bit boring a few songs
in. Typical death metal vocals, coupled with fast drumming and a wall of heavy guitar riffs.
If only they would have expanded their sound a bit, tried a couple new things... Still,
this album does thrash fairly hard. despite a lack of creativity.
Annihilator Refresh The Demon2.5
Threshold March of Progress4.0
Reminds me of power metal and yet sometimes more traditional styles, but remains starkly rdifferent than almost everything I have heard up to this point in 2012. Audible bass, good rguitar tone, and the vocalist is very talented. This is definitely going on my 2012 best of rlist.
Madmaze Frames of Alienation3.0
Cripper Antagonist3.0
Coroner Mental Vortex5.0
Sacred Reich Heal4.0
White Skull Under This Flag4.0
Surprisingly good album. Female fronted power metal in the vain of Primal Fear or even Rage. Highly recommended.
Rage 214.0
There is some really Strong material here, tracks like "Twenty One", "Forever Dead", "Serial Killer", and even the slow closer "Eternally" are all excellent tracks that really impressed me.
Pharaoh Bury the Light3.0
Ne Obliviscaris Portal of I5.0
Riot Thundersteel4.5
Desaster The Arts of Destruction3.0
Nowen Essence of Fear3.0
The vocals are rather typical of the genre, but the instrumentals are excellently done. Some
call this death/thrash metal, but in reality this is thrash metal with death metal vocals
thrown in for good measure. A pretty good effort but nothing extraordinary to be found here.
Tankard A Girl Called Cerveza3.0
Abysmally shitty album cover and subject matter aside, Tankard displays some fairly heavy
material and occasionally a catchy song or two. Their energy driven form of thrash is quite
enjoyable, but there is really nothing special here, just some decent thrash songs.
Vindicator United We Fall3.5
Forbidden Green3.0
This album unfortunately gets a bad rep, and lets be honest; in comparison to their first
two album this is shit. A big change in style compared to the band's early work, but not
everything is bad here. The album starts off really well with some good tracks here like
"Green" and "Phat" but the second half of the album quickly loses steam and fails to grab my
attention. More consistent than Distortion but still a 3.00 at best.
Reverence When Darkness Calls3.5
Forbidden Distortion2.5
There is hardly anything noteworthy or interesting here. While still talented, the band
failed to write compelling songs and seemed to have lost the technical edge that made them
great. More groove oriented and darker than their previous material, but still a boring
listen in comparison to Twisted into Form or Forbidden Evil.
Firewind Few Against Many3.5
Another solid power metal album from Firewind. While it may not be their best work, it is one of the better albums to come out this year.
Aura Noir Out to Die2.5
Dark Angel Time Does Not Heal3.5
Razor Evil Invaders5.0
Oceans of Time Faces2.0
Testament Dark Roots of Earth4.0
This album surely stands as one of the finest thrash offerings of 2012. Its Certainly not reinventing the genre, instead it pleases old school standards while still appealing to a new and younger fan base.
Perzonal War Captive Breeding2.5
Some Decent production could have helped this album a little, but this German metal band has
a lot of room for improvement. The album begins to sound quite stale only a couple songs in
and never really grabs my attention.
After All Dawn of the Enforcer2.5
The vocals are somewhat unique, as is their overall sound. However the band fails to write compelling material as this album gets old after only a listen or two.
Exumer Fire and Damnation3.5
A solid effort that stands above most stand issue thrash from 2012. These thrash veterans
know how to craft an enjoyable album, even after all those dormant years.
Nekromantheon Rise, Vulcan Spectre2.5
Raw sounding retro-thrash, but nothing you haven't heard before.
Angelus Apatrida The Call3.5
A decent collection of revival-thrash songs. The band is heavy and boasts solid
instrumentation, but the album lacks innovation. A good effort but nothing extraordinary.
Iced Earth Night of the Stormrider4.5
Dark Empire From Refuge to Ruin4.0
With many different musical styles such as power metal, thrash, and progressive elements all present, this album offers a volatile mix of styles that will keep you interested and listening for hours. Truly a satisfying piece of work.
Hexen Being and Nothingness3.5
Hexon brings forth a creative and unique album tinged with progressive traits that will keep ryou listening for hours, however the vocals aren't so unique. The vocals sound like so many rother bands; with repetitive yelling dominating the album. Still, this remains one of the rbest thrash efforts of 2012.
Teramaze Anhedonia3.0
3 Inches of Blood Long Live Heavy Metal3.0
The vocals can be a bit rough due to the singer's high pitched delivery, but the rest of the rband is solid. There is certainly some memorable material to be found here given enough rlistens.
Annihilator King of the Kill4.0
Iced Earth Burnt Offerings5.0
Vektor Outer Isolation3.5
Blind Guardian Nightfall in Middle-Earth4.5
Death Angel The Ultra-Violence4.0
Sacred Reich Independent2.5
Toxic Holocaust Conjure and Command3.0
Witchtrap Vengeance Is My Name3.0
Another decent thrash revival album with obvious classic thrash influences. Nothing special, but still a decent listen.
RedMist Destruction Nobility In Death3.0
A decent thrash revival band, with obvious slayer influences. Nothing groundbreaking, and nothing abysmally terrible, just a good effort.
Bonded by Blood The Aftermath2.5
Bonded by Blood do little to distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack. This is
simply thrash by numbers done well. It has its merits and certainly sounds heavy, but this
is not very creative or innovative. A decent but otherwise average effort.
Sylosis Edge of the Earth3.5

Atrophy Violent by Nature4.0
Atrophy Socialized Hate3.0
Suicidal Angels Bloodbath3.5
Havok Time Is Up3.5
Kreator Phantom Antichrist4.0
Overkill The Electric Age3.5
Overkill found a sound they are happy with in "Ironbound" and are sticking to it here. The
band proves with this release that the old-school is still very much alive. However they
bring nothing new to the table, instead they stick to their guns and thrash hard as fuck.
Sure to be included in many people's 2012 best-of lists. 3.5/5
Municipal Waste The Fatal Feast2.5
Seems like the album is missing something, it falls just short of being a good release. Perhaps its because this album brings absolutely nothing new to the table. The band seems content with just copying older thrash bands, rather than actually being creative. And the vocals sound way to similar to John Connely of Nuclear Assault. However this album can roccasionally thrash hard, though it provides little in creativity. 2.5/5
