Les Discrets Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées | 5.0 |
The first time I listened to Les Discrets a new curiousty entered into the world. Post-rock
is a firm yet way overused genre, if executed properly it falls into the category of deep
emotion; Les Discrets manages to do so with this new and improved sounding wave of post
black metal. Every song left me satisfied, they never rushed anything, it flows so well. My
first response while listening to one of the songs was "please don't start the chorus yet,
wait some time to let the song fall into place, don't rush it" and yes, they did wait the
good 20 seconds or so. (Not twenty every time obviously, but you get what I'm saying.) Every
song has left me wanting more, I haven't even found the need to seek out more from this
genre, I have been captivated by Les Discrets. Les Discrets has no room for imrovement, only
a difference in creativity in a hopefully later released album. They create such a strong
atmospheric sound, several parts of their songs are truly beautiful. Beautiful and Black
Metal? What? Yes, the perfect combination between genres creates a natural blend. This band
eliminates any dichotomy between post rockatmosphericblack metalshoegazewhatever. The
Artwork has inspiried me to begin drawing again. Every lyric has so much depth and a passion
that runs so deep to the heart. This CD is a one of a kind, and I feel bad for anyone who
will fail to appreciate this CD. It is softer than Alcest and the other bands that sound
similar. I found this in September, around the time of my birthday. Perfect for fall
relaxation. |
Abigail Williams In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns | 4.0 |
Abigail Williams In the Absence of Light | 4.0 |
Abigail Williams has gone down more in the direction of Black Metal; departing from their previous genres. Abigail Williams manage to maintain a different yet excellent album. They line-up is currently only three members, which includes: Sorceron, Jan, and Ken. Although Abigail Williams only has three members they still manage to maintain the direct assault of an aggressive genre. |

I'm not against the female vocals. I just feel it doesn't blend well with this band. Sure if
it didn't have it it may sound like "every other band" so to speak. But I personally would
disagree with that. Also most of the breakdowns seemed weak and unnecessary. |

Very amazing. I saw these guys live and the emotion as well as feelings they brought to the
room was just incredible. I'm proud to say that these men are helping lead a department of
the math-chain. What's with this animal obsession in math-rock though? |
