| Melodic death metal, are you kidding me? This album is a straight up want-a-be death metal album with metalcore characteristics. That means this is a deathcore album, come on lets be legit about this. If you seriously think this is melodic death metal and that this is one of the best melodic death metal albums of all time you have never heard Insomniums Above the Weeping World or Hypocrisys album Virus or the Black Dahlia Murders album Nocturnal. All of those are excellent Melodic Death Metal albums which are definitely not generic. Humorous song titles and lyrics just mean they are a mockery to music. They are mocking the scene that they originate just because they have not out grown their own adolescents. I am also pretty sure if a whole genre was generic then it would have got real old real quick. And if something is generic obviously it is not excellent it is more like average. So maybe you need to learn whats what. |

Those who enjoy atmospheric music should definitely pick this album up. Vestigial is a fairly unknown dark ambient band. Dark ambient is also a vastly unfamiliar genre, which is very minimalistic. The band takes everything that the ambient world has to offer and employs these elements to create a dark atmosphere. Not just a dark atmosphere but a feeling that all of humanity is extinct, gone maybe even annihilated.
This shadowy environment is created with rumblings and hums such as in the song "Primordial Communications". Its clickety clack treble tones and base pulses give you the experience of a post apocalyptic world. Even though this song is gloomy and ominous it still has a nice unique beat to it. A kind of beat that you would imagine when lost soul is walking them empty streets of a movie, unaware of what has happened to his fellow man.
What's nice about Vestigial and his album is that he doesnt rely on droning as do many dark ambient projects. Its completely electronics and drums. No guitar needed to create this epic nothingness. This album, that will most definitely give you a more nihilistic view of life, has developed a cult following in Italy. Italy has given the world all sorts of magnificent artwork, and "Translucent Communion" is no failure!
