Thomson Girl and Escape Is At hand For the travelin' Man are great songs. An great album that probably inspired a few indie bands |

Austrian Death Machine Total Brutal | 3.5 |
A great album. It the vein of NWOAHM. Sure its a joke, but since it doesnt take itself seriously, neither do you. Every solo, break down, and scream fits the song and the subjecy.
And its a way better joke than anything Dethklok will ever do |

Too much wank. The lyrics are a huge improvment from Calculated Use of Sound, but the musicitself has gotten overly technical. Not that being tech is bad, but when every song is an orgasm of sweep picking harmonies, and double kick blasts, well it kind of drains you after a while. |
Our Lady Peace Spiritual Machines | 4.5 |
The Mars Volta Frances the Mute | 2.0 |
An over long self indulgant mess. where "Deloused" was a logical progression from At the Drive-Ins `Relationship of Command`, full of energy while introducing some of the more proggier aspects only hinted at while in ATDI; frances the mute is full of long meandering wank fests that never really go anywhere |

Iron Maiden Virtual XI | 3.5 |
Better production, better preformance from Blaze. Only thing wrong with this album is by this point Maiden stopped doing anything really cool musically. Its all just E, C, G, and D for pretty much every song. That said, it doesnt deserve the thrashing it gets. |
Iron Maiden Somewhere Back in Time | 2.0 |
Summoning Minas Morgul | 4.0 |
As my first black metal album I was suprised at how weird it was. In an awesome way of course. the huge amount of keyboards and drum programming really caught my ear right away. 2 thumbs up |
NOFX Wolves in Wolves' Clothing | 3.5 |
Death The Sound of Perseverance | 5.0 |
Afroman The Good Times | 4.0 |
A suprisingly groovy album. I wasn't expecting much with "Because I Got High" but the rest of the disc is solid gold. Some people might not like it because it isnt "upper class" intellectual music, but its funky, with some clever/goofy lyrics, and Afroman has a great voice.
Check out palmdale for a great tune |
The Tragically Hip The Tragically Hip | 4.0 |
While not as fully developed as they would get, its still a great album. Plus an arty "friend" of mine said it was "haunting", so if you're an intellectual you might dig it too |
