This album wins my Air France chill-out record of the year award. Soothing electronic music to lay on the beach to. An unexpected favorite album of 2010
Daft Punk Tron: Legacy2.0
Its not a Daft Punk album, its very much a Soundtrack. The very generic, BIG sounding strings drown out most of the DP beats. It was fine to listen through the first time, but I don't really see myself revisiting any more than 2 tracks ever again. I can't recommend Daft Punk fans buy this album.

The Whitest Boy Alive Rules4.0
I used to write-off Whitest Boy Alive as Erlend trying to make a Phoenix album and coming up a little bit short. Since Phoenix no longer really sounds like Phoenix, I gave Whitest Boy another chance. This album is much more polished and, in my opinion, better than Dreams. It is filling my United / Alphabetical void quite nicely. Best songs are Island, Rollercoaster Ride, & 1517.

Air France No Way Down4.0
I disagree, Air France doesn't sound like Jens Lekman. There are vague similarities such as string and horn arrangements, but Air France uses vocal samples and drum machines instead of corny, crooned lyrics and a live band. Don't get me wrong, I like Jens fine, but I'd choose these guys anyday. The best tracks are the middle three: June Evenings, Collapsing at Your Doorstep, &, my personal favorite, No Excuses.

Oasis Dig Out Your Soul3.0
I think with this Oasis album, I have finally realized that Oasis are not, and never, will be the band they were from 94 to 98. This album no longer pines for those days like Let There Be Love and Stop Crying Your Heart Out did. Its all Oasis mark 2 on this album, building on the groundwork of Dont Believe The Truth and adding a lot of organ. And while Im glad that they are moving on, I just wish it was better than this. Its so by the numbers that they no longer bother to emulate The Beatles, they just sample their songs and voices. In the DVD that comes with the album, Noel says something like, People are always telling me to get out of my comfort zone, but I am just going to stay there and keep making great songs. Minus the great songs, that about sums up this album.

...Oh, and Shock Of The Lightning is an unbelievably blatant rip-off of The Way It Is by The Strokes.

Coldplay Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends3.0
This is how every review of Viva La Vida begins, “After the boring ‘X&Y,” Coldplay have returned with a daring new experimental album that, while no Radiohead, is miles better than their last album.” The problem with this statement is that X&Y wasn’t a bad album because it wasn’t experimental enough, it was bad because the songs, for the most part, weren’t very good. The fact is that this album has worse songs than X&Y, they’re just dressed up in fancier clothers (kinda like Chris Martin himself). It is no A Rush of Blood to the Head. Not even close.

Hot Chip Made in the Dark3.0
People Under the Stairs O.S.T.3.0
El Perro del Mar El Perro Del Mar2.5
"God Knows" is the reason I bought this album and it is simply an amazing song. Dripping with strings and horns that sound like theyre from the turn of the last century, Sarah Assbrings unique take on girl group vocals lilts over the track, but the music is what sells this song. The instrumental at about 2 and a half minutes will make you melt. The rest of the album doesnt work as well. With sad, hollow sounding tunes and lyrics that are sometimes too melodramatic (at least for my liking), it is passable as background music when you're getting ready for bed, but little else. That said definitely download "God Knows." That song earns a 5!

The Thrills Teenager3.5
After their last album (except for the only memorable song "Not For All The Love In The World"), The Thrills had me hoping they'd head back to San Diego and write another "So Much For The City." Fortunately, they stayed away and the result is this darker, equally good album that has anything but a So-Cal feel. The first three tracks grow on me everyday and the whole album has a much greater emotional impact. Worth another listen if you wrote this band off after their "Lets Bottle Bohemia."

Ryan Adams Easy Tiger3.5
This is a great Ryan Adams starter album like the review says, a microcosm of his body of work. It is solid all the way through, which is not representative of most of Adam's records (usually there are a handful of misses on each album).
Here's a guide to which album to buy depending on which song you like. These songs would fit well on the albums that follow them:
Goodbye Rose – Cold Roses
Two – Love is Hell
Everybody Knows – Gold
Halloweenhead – Rock ‘n’ Roll
Oh My God, Whatever, Etc. – Heartbreaker
Tears of Gold – Jackson Cit Nights
The Sun Also Sets – Love is Hell
Off Broadway – Love is Hell
Pearls on a String – Cold Roses
Rip Off – Gold
Two Hearts – Gold
These Girls – Heartbreaker
I Taught Myself How To Grow Old – Heartbreaker
