Rancid Indestructible4.0
Thirty Seconds to Mars A Beautiful Lie3.5
I like this album, I really do, but then I'm enjoying a lot of this angsty alternative stuff right now. Obviously it's the singles that seal the deal for me. The rest of the album isn't bad, but it isn't fantastically brilliant either. Still, I enjoy listening to it; I like the huge wall of sound and the shiny production, and I would recommend it to anybody who's looking for something a little- but not too- different.

Aiden Conviction3.0
There's better bands and albums out there, but there's a lot worse around as well. Aiden have been talked up a lot in the UK Kerrang magazine, and to be honest I expected a little more for all the hype. Listening to the guys vocals just made me think "is that it?"
Give it a few more listens though and it might just start to make sense. The musicianship isn't exactly crazy but it all works well together. The album is as good as it is; there's no real preference of one track over the other, it's consistently as good as you choose to find it all the way through.
Nightwish Dark Passion Play5.0
Feeder The Singles4.5
Marilyn Manson Mechanical Animals4.5
This is my favourite Manson album; not because most of my favourite songs are on there but because I think the album works best as a whole. It falls short of the perfect score, because he did miss the mark on a few of the songs, but apart from that, it is a fantastic album.
The Darkness Permission to Land3.5
What makes this album good is it's length- suggesting that the band were under no illusions about those vocals; that there's only so much falsetto you need to listen to before it becomes rubbish- and the fact that it was fun. You have to remember that this came out in late 2003 when Nu-Metal was dying on its arse. Whatever else you might think about the Darkness, the rock'n'roll riffs, widdley solos and cheesey lyrics were a much needed injection of life into rock music, and let's face it, you couldn't help but enjoy it.
Pixies Best of Pixies: Wave of Mutilation2.0
There's a few good songs on here. The obvious ones are, of course, Here Comes Your Man, Monkey Gone To Heaven, and Debaser. I also enjoyed the wierd-but-somehow-it-works vibe of Where Is My Mind. But as for the rest of it, I can't bring myself to like it. I don't really get the Pixies at all, and if this was the "best of" the Pixies, then I have no interest in finding any more of their stuff.
The Distillers Coral Fang3.5
There are some genuine moments of greatness on this album; Hall of Mirrors is astoundingly brilliant, The Hunger is a welcome break from the pace of the rest of the album but without compromising on the fury. The Gallow Is God and Coral Fang are equally good. Unfortunately, the standout tracks don't make an album. And while the rest of the record is by no means bad, it's not overly brilliant either.
Manic Street Preachers Know Your Enemy2.0
It's all there- the pop melody sensibilities, the politcal lyrics, the hard rock drive... but about six tracks into it they seem to run out of steam and the rest of the album is quite frankly dull. I don't like the production on it either; I would expect better from a band as big as the Manics.
Vendetta Red Between the Never and the Now4.0
If I live to be 100, I may never be able to explain why these guys were so good. Other than the attraction of hearing There Only Is for the first time, I can't tell you what it is that this album has that the rest of the CDs in my collection don't. But for some reason, the songs keep coming back to me, I keep playing the album, and it sounds every bit as original, energetic and GOOD as it did when I bought it nearly four years ago. The second album surpassed it, but this was the record that layed the groundwork for them.
Avenged Sevenfold Waking the Fallen3.0
DragonForce Sonic Firestorm4.0
I bought this album after I had owned Inhuman Rampage for a few months, and somehow I couldn't manage to find this one quite as good. It is still a fantastic record though; they may be fairly criticised for nearly all their songs sounding exactly the same but this is the sort of thing I like to listen to; I love it.
HIM And Love Said No4.0
Iron Maiden Iron Maiden4.0
Marilyn Manson Eat Me, Drink Me4.5
This isn't "classic Manson" at all; this is something quite special. He retains his trademark snarl and irony, and at the same time pours a lot more of himself into this record than he ever has done before. He's always had something to say, and I think he could be forgiven for having something to say honestly about himself.
