Young Hearts Spark Fire, Wet Hair, and Sovereignty capture the youthful energy of 90s emo and combine it with a thick guitar sound and frantic drumming. Unfortunately, most of the other songs do not hold this standard. They're still pretty good, but don't have that extra something. The entire album is interesting a never loses its strength. Sonic Youth Daydream Nation5.0Listening to Daydream Nation all the way through is like falling into a long dream. You fall asleep to the jangly guitars and soft whispers of Kim Gordon at the beginning of Teen Age Riot and wake up at the final grinding notes of Eliminator Jr. During this time, you escape from reality completely. Unaware of anything else, Sonic Youth is able to suck someone up and keep them in their musical landscape for an extended period of time. This is why it is my favorite album.
