Not so instrumentally wise, more of M Shadows vocals. In Diamonds in the rough, there was nothing really special about it. Most of it was covers and remixes. M Shadows has really lost his touch too, if you watch the DVD he could just barely pull of a scream with out it not sounding proper. So, maybe the Alternative Rock style is the way to go for him. Though, its not really what I personally want to see from Avenged Sevenfold. At first, I thought Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance were some of the best guitarist around. But, now as I listen to their songs, their solos are just bends and a lot of alternate picking. I have to give it to them though, they look like guitar gods playing together. What really impressed was The Revs talent, when he sang on the self-titled album I thought they should do that more often. But, I didn't really find that on the Diamonds in the Rough album. Then you have Johnny Christ. I think the band is putting more out there with the bass, because before I think Avenged pretended like Johnny didn't exist. Then when I heard the song "Tension" they had a pretty cool bass intro which surprised me a lot. I think they should keep putting Johnny Christ out more. Over all, there was nothing special about this album. Nothing really you would want to listen to all the time. Avenged Sevenfold to me has gotten really mainstream and generic I don't really listen to them. Hopefully if they make a new album they will surprise me.Slipknot All Hope Is Gone2.0Corey Taylor ruined himself in Stone Sour. He just can't pull off the harsh vocals anymore. The instruments were quite good though. Nice heavy riffs that can get your head banging, and what really impressed me whats Mick Thompson and James roots solos. Corey Taylors vocals just ruined it for me. But the guitar is nothing special, but I love the effects. I seen these guys live and they are not a studio band.
