2009 |
Adam Lambert For Your Entertainment | 1.0 |
I will ask myself until the day I die why I even bothered to listen to this. |
Pelican What We All Come to Need | 3.0 |
Thrice Beggars | 4.0 |
Almost fully eschewing their original punk influenced sound, and continuing to elaborate on the foundation set by their alchemy index eps, as well as including elements of vocalist dustin's solo country album, Thrice has released one of their most diverse cds ever. |
The Fall of Troy In the Unlikely Event | 3.0 |
a bit of a let down. But not nearly as bad as everyone says. Remember when everyone freaked out over manipulator? yeah, this is more of that. I would like to remind everyone that Erak didn't write an album of "caught up" part 2's |
HORSE the band Desperate Living | 4.5 |
Converge Axe to Fall | 4.0 |
Mae (a)fternoon | 2.5 |
Brand New Daisy | 4.0 |
Brand new, with each release, continues to distance themselves from their beginnings as a pop punk band. Daisy shows the further evolution of one of the Pop-punk scene's best progeny. |
fun. Aim and Ignite | 3.5 |
Cave In Planets of Old | 4.5 |
After 3 years, Cave In returns to the music scene, thundering back into stereos with 4 tracks of sonic mayhem, combining the best elements of the band’s earlier 11-year career |
Touche Amore ...To the Beat of a Dead Horse | 4.0 |
Darkest Hour The Eternal Return | 3.0 |
brokeNCYDE I'm Not a Fan, but the Kids Like It! | 1.0 |
Emery ...In Shallow Seas We Sail | 4.0 |
while "i'm only a man" was characterized by "innovation" and "experimentation", "...In shallow seas we sail" sticks to what emery does well, and is all the better for it. the album proves that emery still has what it takes to make a good, enjoyable record.as a minor gripe, they've stuck with traditional song structures, which they proved on their FIRST cd they can manage without. verse-chorus-verse.. c'mon, emery we know you can do better.r |
mewithoutYou It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright! | 3.5 |
While an enjoyable listen, mwY’s latest simply does not have the musical, lyrical and emotional pull that their previous albums have had for me. I attest this to the fact that aaron seems to be happy now. Like I said, enjoyable cd, but I had much higher hopes for it. |
Jeremy Enigk OK Bear | 3.5 |
The Devil Wears Prada With Roots Above and Branches Below | 2.0 |
Zao Awake? | 3.0 |
The Felix Culpa SoSo Remission | 3.5 |
Manchester Orchestra Mean Everything to Nothing | 3.5 |
a fun ride, but hardly the second coming of babby jesus. |
ISIS Wavering Radiant | 4.5 |
The titan progenitors of post metal show once again that metal need not have absurdly fast and overly complicated riffs to create a masterpiece of metal. |
Depeche Mode Sounds Of The Universe | 3.0 |
Silversun Pickups Swoon | 4.5 |
This cd is a serious contender for the album of the year spot for me. If you have not listened to this cd, you are doing yourself a disservice.
Also, Put this on next time you want to seduce a chick. Seriously. |
Jimmy Eat World Clarity Live | 4.0 |
Mastodon Crack the Skye | 4.0 |
Trophy Scars Bad Luck | 3.0 |
Propagandhi Supporting Caste | 4.0 |
Cursive Mama, I'm Swollen | 4.0 |
Cursive continues to shed some of their earlier punk influences in favor of dashes of a more laid-back alt country vibe throughout. The result? More room for Tm Kasher’s always-excellent lyrics. |
Thursday Common Existence | 3.5 |
the synth is back, although not a prominent as it was on "City", which is a good thing. what is also back though, is the obnoxious echoey vocal recording, which i don't think does justice to Geoff's excellent voice. The snare drum... I don't know, sounds hollow. it just stands out too much.
At any rate, it's a solid release but many fans will likely be pining for the days of full collapse when they hear this one. |
