But making a sub-par American Idiot three years after is a bit too much to digest. Alright, some of the songs are not half bad ("With Me" can actually seem pretty touching) but when you hear "The Jester" and MCR's "House of Wolves" back to back you can only shake your head in silent disapproval. Or when you see how the first two songs are half-assed attempts at remaking the opening duo of the aforementioned AI, both musically and lyrically. I mean seriously. And for the lyrics... Let's just put this one aside. No more politics for you guys, never ever. Bonus points substracted for pissing on Chuck. It really seemed to be the good direction, was only half as derivative as this and twice as fun.Yellowcard Paper Walls2.5The Smashing Pumpkins Zeitgeist2.5Corgan's vocals are almost unbearable this time around, but Jimmy Chamberlin and some more focused songs save the album from being an embarassment.Queens of the Stone Age Era Vulgaris4.0Biffy Clyro Puzzle3.5The National Boxer3.5Manic Street Preachers Send Away The Tigers4.0Modest Mouse We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank4.0Arcade Fire Neon Bible3.02006 Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me5.0One of those albums that sound average at first, but each and every listen connects more and more. Or not. If it does, it never lets go.My Chemical Romance The Black Parade4.5The band may be overly ambitious for their skills, but sheer energy, wit and a great sense of drama make this album a guilty pleasure like no other.Manchester Orchestra I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child3.0Silversun Pickups Carnavas3.5Muse Black Holes & Revelations4.0Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness3.0Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium3.0The Paper Chase Now You Are One of Us4.0Pearl Jam Pearl Jam4.0Built to Spill You in Reverse3.0Yellowcard Lights and Sounds4.02005 System of a Down Hypnotize4.0Emery The Question2.0Foo Fighters In Your Honor3.5System of a Down Mezmerize4.0Nine Inch Nails With Teeth3.0The National Alligator3.0Queens of the Stone Age Lullabies to Paralyze3.52004 Sum 41 Chuck4.0Green Day American Idiot4.5Yeah, the lyrics can be bad, and it was overplayed to hell and beyond, and it turned the band's career to a wrong direction.
