I tend to look at this album as a double album only half the time. it makes the experience better. the first disc is absolutely amazing, it has some of trents angriest songs, some of his most beautiful, the best instrumentals, and some of his only love songs, all of it arranged perfectly. The second disc, on the other hand, is a lot moodier and less consistent, which is why i only sometimes listen to this album "completely". The second disc poses a trade-off, listening to it enhances the mood and experience, but takes away from the pure musical consistency. So, when im looking for an amazing listen, i go for the first disc, when i feel like going the extra mile and immersing myself in the concept and mood of the album much more, then i listen to the album in its entirety. |
