Credited for starting the Visual Kei movement in Japan, X Japan's sophomore album certainly showed why they are a legend in Japan. From the beginning to the end, the band mixes in epic ballads along with their collection of speed metal songs. One does not need to know japanese to enjoy this record as the strength of the instrumental itself shines throughout the record. Through listening to Blue Blood, the title track, you can't help but tap your feet to the amazing drumming by Yoshiki. If you want to see how X Japan had influenced japanese music so much that the death of Hide, X Japan's guitarist, is often compared to Kurt Cobain, listen to this album. It is simply a masterpiece. |
