2023
Earthside Let The Truth Speak3.5
Spiritbox The Fear of Fear3.5
Best thing they've done since their self-titled EP. The blend of clean melodicism with industrial breakdown is much better executed than on Rotoscope.
Silent Planet Superbloom3.5
Still not as good as The Night God Slept, but maybe their best album since then? The weakest aspect, as with most Silent Planet albums, is the production, but the songs themselves are excellent.
TesseracT War of Being4.0

Easily her best album since EMOTION. It's great to see Carly slowly move away from the 80s worship to more contemporary sounds.

At a first listen, this is amazing. However, I don't understand why they'd split Messiah Complex into five different parts. The song seems so much more connected than e.g. Concealing Fate (TesseracT) or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (Dream Theater), that I don't get the reason to split up a song that would be just 17 minutes long in its full length. Rating as of writing this comment: 4/5
Taylor Swift Folklore3.5
Can't say I'm not hyped for this Agalloch album
Jessie Ware What's Your Pleasure?4.0
Phoebe Bridgers Punisher3.5

Caligula's Horse Rise Radiant3.0
After multiple monumental albums, it's not unusual for a band to pull back a little and play it safe. Rise Radiant is just that. Yes, it's not as great as In Contact and the tracks aren't as good as they were on Bloom, but Rise Radiant still holds up as a worthy entry to Caligula's Horse' mighty catalog.

Just judging by the teaser, I think we might actually get heavier and better Dream Theater album ronce again. I'm pretty confident it's gonna be better than the last album. I really hope I won't rhave to change my rating.rEdit: I didn't have to change it, this is Dream Theater's best album since Train Of Thought.

Alligatoah Schlaftabletten, Rotwein V3.5
Great Leap Skyward Map of Broken Dreams4.0
A great record, although the growls are sometimes unbearable, which kind of ruins it for me. Instrumentally, the drummer is truly a powerhouse and the songs are creative. My brother gave me this album, otherwise I don't know if I would've ever discovered this band.

In Contact is Caligula's Horse' best album - and it might just be the best prog metal record of the 2010s.
Alvvays Antisocialites4.0
Casper Lang lebe der Tod3.0
At a first glance, this album may suck. What really makes it suck even more though, is that this is the same guy who made XOXO. At least the three final tracks kind of save it (and Morgellon's outro is kinda suck if I'm honest).

Metallica Hardwired...To Self-Destruct3.0

Alter Bridge The Last Hero2.0
Probably Alter Bridge's biggest misstep to date. If they cut this album in half and released the weaker tracks as B-Sides, it probably would've about as good as their past efforts.

The problem with this album isn't that it's "too accessible" or "too poppy", but that it just doesn't have enough highs to be considered up to par with Omega or PII.

Ariana Grande Dangerous Woman3.0
Radiohead A Moon Shaped Pool4.5

Kendrick Lamar untitled unmastered.4.0
Hellhookah Endless Serpents2.0
A monotonous, boring album, that lacks diversity and creativity. Also, the singer is annoying. rOther than that, the guitar tone is about as badass as it gets and the drums, while simple, do serve the song, which is the most important thing, as Ringo Starr has shown.
Kanye West The Life of Pablo4.0
Dream Theater The Astonishing2.0
Since Mike Portnoy's departure, DT has had a significant lack in songwriting skill, and this is most apparent on The Astonishing. Annoying skits, uninspiring musicianship, and a running time of 130(!) minutes make this one of the most disappointing DT releases, when compared to their other work.

Skrillex Bangarang3.0
Bangarang starts off fairly well, with the first four tracks being bangers. The last track is also pretty good, but "Right On Time" and "Kyoto" are so bad that they drag the entire EP down to being just average.
Linkin Park Linkin Park Underground Eleven3.0
As I Lay Dying Decas1.5
While the first half of this EP is pretty solid, with three new tracks, three covers, and a newly recorded medlely, the quality makes a hard 180? turn when it comes to the remixes. As much as I love electronic music, it just doesn't go together well with metalcore. The first remix of Confined is still bearable, the rest should have been dumped.

The Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)1.0
Boom boom pow was one of the songs of my childhood. I really tried to like this album, but geez. Every song is just boring and some are even really annoying. Rock that body might be the only mediocre song on this album.

Deftones Deftones3.5
Opeth Damnation4.0
I don't know. I guess that, for the fact that Opeth went in a new direction for once, this album is pretty successful. But as a progressive rock album? It's not very ambitious as you would usually expect. It's also not exactly beautiful, it's rather boring for the most part. It's the same Opethian melodies that you've heard for sixty billion times, just without distortion. However, I have to admit that Windowpane is impeccable and Hope Leaves is another gorgeous song.

Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory4.5
This is their best album. Of course it is kind of cheesy, but that is to be expected in a DT record. Masterful musicianship and beautiful lyricism make this one of Prog Metal's best AOAT's.

After their first effort at a proper release, Xero, Linkin Park come out with a new singer and a solid production. This EP is a true gem for any Linkin Park fan, as it features Linkin Park's signature sound, projected onto some new songs.

Right from the beginning, Agalloch have always presented their fans with epic, gorgeous, and heavy music. How bold is it for a band to start their debut with an 18 minute song?

Linkin Park Xero2.0
If you look over the production, which is the best Linkin Park could do at the time, Xero features some solid unheard tracks like Reading My Eyes and Stick N Move, and of course the first version of Forgotten. The songs do sound kind of unfinished and the horrible production has to be taken into account. While Mark Wakefield isn't the best, he does kind of fit nicely into the whole album as a package. 5/10
Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea4.5
This album would be near perfect if the damn bagpipes on [untitled] were in tune at least half of the time they were playing. Every time I listen to that track, it ruins the entire atmosphere that was built up to that point. 4/5rEDIT: Yeah no lol this is clearly a 5. That out of tune bagpipe is sick.

With a classic record like OK Computer, obviously there will be a bit of overrating. Does that invalidate this album in any way? No. OK Computer might not be Radiohead at their best, but it's catchy, and to add to that it's also amazing.

Not their best album, but a classic for sure. Especially for a sophomore album, this record is still amazing to this day. While the production may be a bit lacking (Mike Porntoy's drums sound pretty bad imo), the songwriting is great and beautiful. James Labrie shows some of his best vocal chops.

The problem with a lot of extreme metal is that the music is often monotonous. This album takes 4 tracks before it presents a unique sound (in track 5) that isn't distortion guitars, drums, bass, and Chuck's vocals, all with a flat production. However, a lot of the tracks do hit hard.rEdit: I apologize for my bullshit opinion, this album is awesome

How do you have an album that's this horribly produced? It's almost impressive. After the amazing production on RtL, Metallica's production first took a massive hit on MoP, and now on this album it's even worse?
