It's solid, but something's missing |
10 Years (How to Live) As Ghosts | 4.0 |
Their best since The Autumn Effect. Wantland's return, Rasckulinecz's production, and what might be Jesse's best vocal performance to date, (how to live) As Ghosts not only marks a return to form for 10 Years, but a new chapter for the band that contains a very bright future. |
10 Years Violent Allies | 2.0 |
This album is proof on why Howard Benson is an absolute shit stain in the music industry. |
A Perfect Circle Thirteenth Step | 4.0 |

A Slow Descent Dance With Me Upon His Secret Ocean | 3.5 |
A Slow Descent Encased in Ice and Sealed in Snow | 4.0 |
Act of Denial Negative | 4.0 |
definitely more reminiscent of Soilwork's pre-Figure Number Five era
for those thinking that Soilwork have gone too soft, this record is for you |
Adele 25 | 2.5 |
pretty generic, even for Adele's standards. |
Adept Sleepless | 3.0 |
nothing really new here, but the vocalist is pretty good. |

Alter Bridge Blackbird | 4.5 |
Alter Bridge AB III | 4.0 |
Alter Bridge One Day Remains | 2.5 |
Alter Bridge The Last Hero | 3.5 |
typical Alter Bridge, though it still manages to contain some great material |
Alter Bridge Walk The Sky | 3.5 |
it's just more Alter Bridge, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but they really need to start tweaking their sound a bit more and get a different producer if they want to stay relevant. |
Amaranthe Helix | 2.5 |
I've always wondered why people found this band so average, now I know |

Andrew Judah Impossible Staircase | 4.5 |
Andrew W. Gold Fool's Gold | 3.5 |
Andrew W.K. You're Not Alone | 2.0 |
Andy Black The Shadow Side | 2.5 |
Given the constant mockery that Black Veil Brides gets, it's at least commendable for Andy Biersack to at least attempt something different in comparison to his other works. However, despite a few decent moments, The Shadow Side is ultimately an empty and forgettable affair that borrows the same elements from other and more popular pop artists out there, and is most likely not going to change your mind about Biersack in general. |

Arch Enemy Will to Power | 3.5 |
Arch Enemy Doomsday Machine | 4.0 |
Arch Enemy Deceivers | 4.0 |
definitely their best album in years, by far Alissa's best performance, some decently strong songwriting and Jeff Loomis finally getting a chance to let loose on his guitar a bit, makes for a solid MDM record |
Architects All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us | 4.0 |
Architects Holy Hell | 4.0 |
"Hey mods can you do your job and remove all these premature 5s?? It's fucking up the 2018 best of chart, no reason this should be #2. Album will be average as always these dudes have been releasing the same song for years."
This is coming from a guy who rated this a month before it was released |

still better than Sempiternal tbh |
Bad Omens Finding God Before God Finds Me | 4.0 |
These guys can't escape the BMTH comparisons the same way that no one can stop comparing Greta Van Fleet to Led Zeppelin.
Still though, this is great |
Bad Wolves Disobey | 3.0 |
If they did less of the harsh rap-like vocals and had better production then they have to potential to release a damn good album.
Honestly, this is a weird album, but I kinda like it. |

Beartooth Disease | 3.0 |
Beartooth Disgusting | 3.5 |
Beartooth Below | 3.0 |
Beast In Black Berserker | 4.0 |
It's exactly what you expect. It's dumb, lame and over the top, but it's still manages to be damn good fun without it ever feeling too cringey. |
Beast In Black From Hell With Love | 4.5 |
I was afraid from the first two singles that this was going to be another one of those shitty "80s nostalgia throwback" albums that we've been getting a lot of recently, but thankfully that isn't the case at least for the most part. They still retain that metal edge here, and man this album is album is fucking fun. |

Definitely a solid record for sure, but being honest there isn't really all that much that particularly blew me away. Mycelia Dawn | 5.0 |
This album, which features a deathcore/djent band, has a 13 minute song called "Drop The Baby", and it's one of the best metal songs of the year. |
Mycelia Nova | 4.5 |
Mycelia Obey | 4.5 |
Mycelia Apex | 4.5 |
not as good as Dawn, but still it still solidifies Mycelia as one of the best and most overlooked death metal acts out there |

It is what it is, atmospheric prog metalcore/djent with a few great moments and a few bad ones. |
Northlane Alien | 4.5 |
There's practically an industrial metal vibe to this and it suits them really nicely. It's their best album with Marcus, and might be their best album overall. |

The nu-metal influences in this practically ruin this. |
NYVES Pressure | 3.5 |
Definitely better than the debut, though it still leaves a bit more to be desired. |
NYVES Anxiety | 3.0 |
This lacks a creative edge from both the production and Ryan's vocals. I feel like there should be a lot more to this than what we're getting so far. |

Orbit Culture Shaman | 4.0 |
Orbit Culture Descent | 4.5 |
Orbit Culture The Forgotten | 3.0 |
While it is cool that they're constantly pumping out new stuff, there's only so much of it that I can really listen to seeing how they haven't changed their style since Nija |
P.O.D. The Awakening | 2.5 |
A lot of the fun, aggression, and catchiness seems to have been sucked out in favor for a conceptual religious statement that doesn't even constitute as subtle. Seems like they're finally starting to hit the bottom. |

Pentakill Smite and Ignite | 3.5 |
Actually pretty impressive for a band based off of a video game such as League of Legends. |
Pentakill II: Grasp of The Undying | 5.0 |
Say what you will about a virtual band based on League of Legends and how cheesy/dumb it is, this is one of the best metal albums of the year. |
Pentakill III: Lost Chapter | 4.5 |
Definitely a different Pentakill album than the previous two, leaning more towards progressive/heavy metal rather than the power/thrash angle than before. It really does suit them, but the choice of Tyler Smith of The Word Alive as the third vocalist is certainly an odd one. |

Recode the Subliminal Disconnected | 4.0 |
Despite a few questionable production choices and some rather cheesy lyrics, Disconnected is a definite improvement over their debut album as they finally begin to find the sound that they're comfortable with. |

Unnecessary, acts more of an apology letter to their fanbase, and the strings are more of a distraction rather than part of their style. It just flat out sucks. |

I'm still not convinced if Giacomo is the right replacement for Fabio as the vocalist. While he certainly is a better singer and I'll give him credit that he's not trying to sound like Fabio, I don't think he fits in very well with the music. |
Rhapsody of Fire The Eighth Mountain | 4.0 |
Giacomo has warmed up to me for sure. Still, no one can replace Fabio for me, and Giacomo can be a little whiny for sure, but I think he did a good job with this record. Album is a lot of fun for those who are in the mood for some good cheese. |

One of the few reasons why this film is even notable in the first place. The soundtrack is way too dependant on other artists to help the film gain popularity, even if some of the songs are fun to listen to. It's a decent soundtrack all the same despite it belonging to a film that only appealed to a cult following. |

The tracklists are getting shorter and shorter. Next thing you know they'll release an empty disc and call it an album.
"Can someone please explain to toondude that longer tracklist =/= better music"
lol, that's not why I didn't like it. I didn't like this because it's boring af. |

The Mercury Tree Countenance | 4.5 |
The Mercury Tree Freeze In Phantom Form | 4.5 |
This band really is the next "Porcupine Tree" in the best way possible, and this album proves it. 'Proteus' is arguably one of the best prog/psychedelic rock songs in recent memory. |

it's certainly catchier than their last album and Richard's vocals are constantly improving with every album, but this band can't help but touch the EDM button a few too many times. |

Richard is still a hit or miss vocalist but I won't lie that this album is a ton of fun. |

7empest might as well be one of their best songs to date, and Chocolate Chip Trip is a fun little instrumental, shame I can't say the same with the rest of the album, everything else is just so goddamn boring. |

It took a long time, but this record has grown on me a lot since this came out. What I took as a cop out of mid-era Thrice sound, I realized that this is their most mature record. The vocal performances are what makes this, especially Steven's clean vocals. While I still like the other two records more, I can safely say that this is a great record. |
Wolves at the Gate Eclipse | 3.5 |
Definitely their most "mainstream" record. It's got good production, nice melodies and great performances from both vocalists, yet at the same time there's nothing here that other bands haven't done before, some even better. It's a solid record, but nothing really blew me away. |
