And So I Watch You From Afar All Hail Bright Futures4.0
Honestly, after I got over that this was more vocal than their previous work, this is pretty amazing. There's a lot of noodeling around with sound and effects, some of them extremely weird, but ultimately the fun is worth it. Perfect for summer.
And So I Watch You From Afar The Endless Shimmering4.0
Maintains the energy of their last two records with darker, heavier fascinations of the band not present since Gangs. Sounds like Inception at times which is pretty neat.
Andross Should I Not Return, All Is In Order3.0
Honestly, it's pretty inventive. Really enjoyed the first couple tunes. Kind of reminds me of Taking Back Sunday. Hope this band keeps it real, they've got potential :]
Asgeir Dýrð í dauðaþögn3.5
Somewhere between Bon Iver and James Blake is Asgeir.
Billy Talent Dead Silence3.0
While it's perhaps a necessary evil to abandon the frenetic sounds of I&II, BT's Dead Silence builds on III's occasional maturity to a strangely similar result. While slightly dissapointing at first, subtle change of pace makes this album worth absorbing.

Clams Casino Instrumental Mixtape 23.5
Allowing more influences and peers to shine through, worth the risk. Not as consistent as the first but still great.

Deftones Koi No Yokan3.5
Not as consistently amazing as Diamond Eyes, and they definitely didn't experiment as much this time around but it's still damn good. Really a hybrid of their last two albums, but slightly more upbeat than either.
Deftones Deftones4.0
As visceral as anything they've ever done. While it doesn't pull it off as smoothly as predecessor White Pony, we're left with a particularly raw and emotional album with several songs that never get old. Lush brutality throughout.

Pretty goddamn grand, some moments remind me of Gridlink, some are more Dillinger/The Chariot inspired. The vocals are downright brutal, with incredible range, and the riffs do not let up. A little rough around the edges, but hey, it's grind.
Intervals The Way Forward3.0
Kadinja Kadinja4.0
An exellent EP out of Paris that will turn the heads of fans of Sikth and BtBAM. The excellent vocals and mind-blowing instrumentation push it ahead of the crowd in recent metal releases.

Even with some of their slowest burning material to date, and even more experimentation, this record still rips.

Save Us From The Archon Some Things We Carry, Always4.0
EDIT: The first few times I listened to this through and through, all I could hear was the absence of the
strings and keys. The difference between their debut and this one are both slight and immense;
without the melodic backing section, the bands technicality is highly accentuated. Bare bones and
even more mathy this time around, I couldn't compute it at first. A couple years later though, this
record is close to my heart. Once you begin to associate the concept of the song titles with the
melodies, it can be as affecting as any moment from the last record. And the remaster is worth
noting, as you can really hear the stellar bass lines. Drink a lot of coffee and get into it.
Save Us From The Archon How Terrible, The Undergrowths Jaws That Tangle.3.5
Extremely melodic and imaginitive for a slice of 2012 instru-metal. Think Kezia-era Protest the Hero minus the production and vocals. Fast, emotive, and unique. Even if occasional tracks sound similar, I'm anxiously awaiting whatever comes next from them.
Save Us From The Archon Some Things We Carry, Always (Reissue)4.0
Save Us From The Archon Fear Eats the Soul4.5
So good it hurts. The ambient textures that slightly distracted me from the last album are still present
but totally cohesive with the song structure ("Epigram" and the amazing "Heaven.") Fantastic band.
Save Us From The Archon L'Eclisse4.5
Even as SUFTA's most accessible album, they manage to somehow outdo themselves in almost every way. Don't sleep on this. Reminds me of their first couple records mixed with the production and energy from the last EP. Cool concept and ecstatic riffing.

Some serious Mahavishnu vibes and I can't get enough
The Strokes Comedown Machine3.5
Considering the mess that was Angles, I'm just glad there were more memorable tunes on this one. It's not as engaging as the older stuff, and they're still buzzed on the 80's, but it surprised me.
The Zeta Magia Infinita4.0
Three Trapped Tigers Silent Earthling4.0
While we might not ever get another Adebisi Shank record, we at the very least still have this. Three Trapped Tigers absolutely kill it on this record. Just as good as Route One or Die, if not even better.
