First two tracks (Geologist's and Avey Tare's) are pleasant enough, although the latter two (Deakin's and Panda Bear's) are really worth the listen. A funny little EP.
Animal Collective Honeycomb/Gotham4.0
This single, particularly a-side Honeycomb, feels very much like business as usual for Animal Collective. You
could call Honeycomb an ecstatic three-minute summation of their last three albums; it has the rough 'n'
tumble execution of 'Feels', the soaring vocals of 'Merriweather Post Pavilion', and the melodic sweetness of
'Strawberry Jam'. Melancholic b-side Gotham isn't quite so familiar-sounding, featuring a heartbreaking vocal
from Avey Tare that sighs across lethargic guitar and unhurried drums. It isn't the blast of energy and colour
Honeycomb is, but may well be the superior track. All in all Honeycomb/Gotham is a fantastic, if slightly
inessential pre-'Centipede' single.

This is a film score consisting of about three or four simple themes, varied upon and repeated throughout. Highly recommended.

KMFDM WWIII1.5
Other than the first minute of the title track (a scorching banjo jam) and some gorgeously-mixed industrial samples, this is a totally forgettable, lifeless release. The chugging metal riffs of earlier KMFDM albums worked because they were catchy and tongue-in-cheek, here they just sound like those of any other cringeworthy metal band. Probably the worst KMFDM album of the post-Esch years.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The point where KMFDM truly lost all artistic integrity, and became a soulless franchise. At least on recent KMFDM albums, when they rehashed old ideas, they at least tried to pass it off as new material (see the opener of Kunst for example). This album is literally a bunch of older songs (most of them terrible) remixed by Sascha and thrown together on a CD. Why? Because legions of brainless fans will buy it anyway, because of the brand name attached to it. For which KMFDM collection is complete, without this utterly needless and ridiculous release? You better grab the vinyl and the t-shirt, too. We already have three greatest hits albums. We already have reissues, remasters, and remix albums aplenty. Please don't fork over money for this album. You'll only enable Sascha to continue making a mockery of the KMFDM name, which he's been doing since the early 2000s. Go listen to their classic material instead, or check out Slick Idiot. This release is positively cancerous.

Korn Life Is Peachy2.5
Despite some truly impressive in-your-face production, this is Korn at their most juvenile and embarrassing. Like other Korn albums, it can competently channel superior bands (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) but offers nothing of worth beyond that.
Korn Issues3.0
Perhaps Korn's least obnoxious release, Issues leans closer to alternative metal than nu-metal, a stylistic shift they should've made earlier and stuck with for longer. Despite being long-winded and flawed beyond belief, Issues does offer up a handful of clever riffs and explosive choruses, evident on tracks like Hey Daddy and Make Me Bad. As good as they ever got.

A cross-promotion can of energy drink. I'll admit this match made in hell carries some morbid fascination for me. The one
or two faint glimmers of guilty pleasure on here (e.g. the pre-chorus of 'Get Up') prevent me from rating this as a 1.0... as
much as this id-driven, fad-chasing mess might deserve it. This really does represent some nadir of Western culture. I only
wish I hated it more than I do.

Muse's trashy mix of cheesy guitar riffs, space-themed lyrics and Freddie Mercury-style histrionics can at times be great fun to listen to. On The 2nd Law however the cheese and the drama is cranked to 11, totally at the cost of any enjoyment. This album is almost entirely forgettable, save for the couple of tracks (Survival, Unsustainable) where the band verges into unlistenable territory. The addition of wobble bass on tracks such as Madness, Follow Me and Unsustainable (funnily enough the three singles thus far) was a soulless and ineffective attempt to jump on the dubstep bandwagon, yielding results more tragic than anything else. Stay way clear of this, folks.

Slick Idiot Sucksess4.0
"Sucksess" is the 2009 album by electro-industrial act Slick Idiot, aka ex-KMFDM members En Esch and
Guenter Schulz. Although amateurly produced and a little incoherent stylistically, this album is far superior to
anything KMFDM has come up with since said members left in 1999. Tracks like Everyone's A Winner,
Daydreams, Silly and Wer Bist Du? are exotic and deliciously catchy post-industrial jams far more deserving of
the KMFDM name than Sascha's recent mall goth bullshit. I am yet to listen to their divisive debut, DickNity,
but this album fills me with hope and excitement. Well done fellas.

Stimming Alpe Lusia4.5
I first heard Stimming nearly five years ago, when a song of his was given to me by a friend as part of a mixtape. The track
exhibited a fresh and meticulous approach to house music, suggesting Stimming possessed something special among the
hordes of bedroom DJs. However, there was something audibly missing from the track, as
though Stimming had not yet realised how to take the disparate elements of his music and add them up to something entire
and profound. While optimistic that I would one day hear Stimming deliver on his promise, a torrent of new music and other
experiences flooded into my life, and I quickly forgot all about him. Cue the release of his new album. Alpe Lusia is the
sound of Stimming fully, gloriously realising the potential I first heard from him half a decade ago. One of the best
electronic albums I've heard in some years.

The fragmented, droning dissonance of the first half had me basically twitching in anticipation of a sonic payoff. When it finally came, so did I. What a rollercoaster of an album.

The Veils Time Stays, We Go2.0
Time Stays, We Go is not a terrible record, simply a huge letdown considering The Veil's massive reputation.

The Vines Highly Evolved3.0
Young Aussie rockers splicing The Beatles' Revolver with Nirvana's Nevermind. Sound awful? It isn't. This album is far, far better than it has any right to be.
The Vines Winning Days2.5
Aside from the opener and the beautiful title track, this is a step down in quality from their debut. A shame.

Fuck me, this is as bland as it gets. The musical equivalent of having a palm tree as your desktop screensaver. Offensively
inoffensive.
