Bad Moon Rising Blood | 3.0 |
Great riffs and solos from Doug Aldridge but most of the songs miss that special edge and that's why Bad Moon Rising was never the band to rave about. Nonetheless a very decent hard rock listen but unfortunately the second half of the record is a disappointment in regards to the first half. |
Bad Moon Rising Bad Moon Rising | 2.5 |
Decent first record but it doesn't surprise you in any good way unfortunately. Recommended songs: If it aint dirty, Full moon fever, Wayward son |
Bad Moon Rising Opium For The Masses | 4.0 |
Badlands Badlands | 4.0 |
I will use a phrase from the review of the album which sums it up for me: "There's something special about a bare-bones rock n' roll band who keep it simple but can still stand out from the pack". Jake E. Lee and Ray Gillen produce a great rock album with the same drive which is reminiscent of old Whitesnake songs. Jake is an underrated guitarist in my view and this album proves my point, I would like to think. Oh, this and 'Bark at the moon' of course.. |
Bernard Allison The River's Rising | 3.0 |
What an excellent track River Rising is. Too bad that's the only 'hit' you'll get |
Black Wizard New Waste | 4.0 |
Great album with many music variations from psychedelic and Floydian influences to pure chugging metal riffs. Go for this! Recommended songs "Laughing and Lost", "Revival", "Eliminator", "The Priest" and "Final Ripper". |

Has some very good music in it for the most part and is as heavy as it should be - every time I listen to the album I fall even more for it. But I just can't stand the vocals; so scritchy and trembly it puts me off. Maybe it's just me but it's definitely worth a listen. |

In Flames Siren Charms | 2.0 |
In Flames Lunar Strain | 3.5 |
This is a solid debut album by In flames, which kind of reminds me of a Dark Tranquillity like sound (courtesy of their frontman mr. Stanne I believe, the current DT vocalist). If you can get past a couple of songs in the middle section, it?s a very good album |
In Flames The Jester Race | 4.5 |
You have to get the re-released version of this with the added Black Inheritance EP tracks. What an excellent melodic album ! |
In Flames Whoracle | 5.0 |
My favourite album from In Flames. It has everything in it, melodies, powerful riffing, deep bassing and excellent lead parts. Every single melody is organised and all the tracks are very well produced. Recommended tracks: The whole fkin thing ! |
In Flames Colony | 4.0 |
Many believe that this was the epitomy of In Flames discog. I don't exactly disagree though I prefer Whoracle a little more than this one. The first appearance of the legendary guitar duo (Jesper and Bjorn), and they own the show. Recommended tracks : Ordinary Story, Zombie.inc, Coersed Coexistence, Insipid 2000. |
In Flames Clayman | 4.0 |
In Flames continue to impress with their fifth release and they have now established their place in the metal scene and built their own Colony. This is a bit more melodic release than the slightly stronger/heavier Colony LP, and features many of their most popular tracks. Couldn't decide if this was better than Colony so I had to give them the same rating (although in my heart I kinda like this one a bit more). Recommended tracks: Pinball Map, Only for the Weak, Square Nothing, Clayman, Suburban Me. |
In Flames Reroute to Remain | 2.5 |
New elements fill this album when compared to their older releases - synth melodies come to play, Anders Friden sings clean parts in most of the songs and (I feel that) there's less effort in creating those excellent melodies and complex guitar lines as before. Nevertheless this LP marks a new beginning for In Flames' career and is worth the listen. Recommended tracks : Reroute to Remain, Trigger, Cloud Connected. |

Intervals A Voice Within | 3.0 |
I'm actually quite happy that the following album, "The Shape of Colour" (2015), is without vocals therefore giving guitarist Aaron Marshall the artistic freedom to write the songs only as he wished. I can't say its bad, it's actually quite a solid release but it sounds too metalcore-ish to me on some points. Worth a listen but definitely go check their next release, it rocks hard. |

KXM KXM | 3.5 |
Read somewhere that this album was supposedly comprised in just 8 days. Wow! There was never a question of quality musicianship (Kings X + Korn + Lynch) and the album offers many different tempos and phrasing (Never stop, I'll be OK, Do it now, Tranquilize). Not impressed with the lyrical work but the music on this one will at the very least satisfy your appetite. A very promising debut. |

Leslie West Soundcheck | 2.5 |
Despite having Leslie's thick chunky distinguished guitar tone, "Soundcheck" is at best a mediocre album judging by the man's standards. Almost nothing stands out from this album and is a far cry from his previous release which I enjoyed immensely. Recommended songs: "Here for the Party" and "Empty Promises/Nothing Sacred". |

Pretty interesting listen. Some songs have great energy and some just feel like a rather failed experiment. Came across this album by chance although I kinda knew Andy James through some youtube clips and stuff. Well Im happy I found it! The album is packed with quality riffs and guitar licks but most of the songs have a similar feel and it loses its edge by the end. Still great stuff!!rRecommended songs: Demons, Seven, Bleeding out, Evolve / Become |
Savatage Edge of Thorns | 4.0 |
My favorite, this along with Gutter Ballet and Hall of the Mountain King are their best albums in my opinion. "Degrees of Sanity" is just mesmerizing! Amazing riffs and solos through the whole album |

Roth rocks this !! He is trully unbelievable in what was his last studio album with Scorpions.. |
Scorpions Lovedrive | 4.5 |
What a lucky band to have such guitar gods in its ranks. The departure of Roth was well replaced and with the aid of the Schenker bros, this is one of the best Scorpions albums if not the best! |

This band still goes strong although a bit more mellow in comparison with the previous release. Still it has many good ear-catching songs to listen to and every time you listen to it, it will grow on you. Of course the Deep Purple influence is evident once again but hey, who the f*ck doesn't like Purple? |
Steel Panther All You Can Eat | 2.5 |
The Answer Raise a Little Hell | 3.5 |
Very enjoyable album although it offers nothing new. If it weren't for the latter half (from "I am what I am" to "I am cured"), which I found quite uninteresting, it would have been a solid 4. Recommended songs: the whole first half of the album! |

Pure power and fuzz and headbanging till you're out of breath. Even though they come at you raw, they do have a formula where they play riffs that are heavy and catchy, repeat the song title a few times for the chorus and finish off strong with a shredding blues rock solo. rThe formula obviously works, but it does wear out somewhere and the album starts to get repetitive. |

A great album - smooth rock with many reggae elements.. Flows like water.. Jah man! |
Toto Falling In Between | 3.5 |
I was pleasantly surprised with Toto's last album. It features a little bit of everything that Toto had produced so far, featuring 5 lead vocalists! And no, they don't make a mess out of so many vocals and instruments - remarkable musicianship between the band. Recommended tracks "Falling in between", "Dying on my feet", "King of the world", "Taint your world" |
Toto Toto | 3.0 |
Great songs such as "I'll supply the love", "Hold the line" and "Girl Goodbye" but accompanied by many disco-like and ballady tunes which are very easily forgettable |
Toto Hydra | 3.5 |
Technically better than its predecessor, "Hydra" and "St. George and the Dragon" kick off the record in a progressive rock style, something you haven't heard on Toto's first album. Sadly 'cheesy' soft rock ballads come into play again, denying the album to lift off the ground. |
Toto Turn Back | 3.0 |
An almost straight-forward 80's rock album - quite reminiscent of Boston. But it doesn't escape mediocrity despite some excellent guitar solos.rRecommended tracks: "Gift with a golden gun", "Goodbye Elenore", "Turn back" |
Toto Toto IV | 2.5 |
The only reason to get this album is "Africa". What a song! |

Amazing album mixing psychedelic/stoner rock with greek folk music. It may alienate some people because of the vocals being greek but if you're a fun of the stoner/desert rock scene you should definitely dig this up! |
Volbeat The Strength/The Sound/The Songs | 3.5 |
Fresh and sometimes crude sound from an emerging (at that time) Danish band that would perfect their rocknroll/metal hybrid sound in their second release. Great listen but maybe not the best choice for your first Volbeat album |
Volbeat Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil | 4.5 |
You can hear the difference in song coherence and melody composition. Lots of power, mind-sticking riffs and singalong choruses. Fuller and chunkier than its predecessor, my fav Volbeat record.rRecommended songs: Human Instrument, Gardens Tale, Sad Man's Tongue, River Queen, Boa |
Volbeat Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood | 3.5 |
Volbeat continue on the footsteps of their 2007 release, but something is missing from this album. Yes they do try some new stuff (check "Still Counting") but it lacks some of the power and edge that the previous albums had.rRecommended songs: Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac blood, We, Still counting, Find that sould |
Volbeat Beyond Hell/Above Heaven | 3.0 |
Most of the ratings here disagree with mine, but I believe that this isn't their best album. Not even their second best. They left the metal aspect aside this time and made a more rock/pop ballad-esque tracklist. Nevertheless, they said "Thank you" in the end! |
Volbeat Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies | 4.0 |
Great release from a great band. Very nice riffs throughout and an excellent intro song to "present" the album. Oh and.. King Diamond is on it bitch! enough said.rRecommended songs: The nameless one, Dead but rising, Room 24, The hangman's body count, Doc Holiday |
