A nice refreshing change from the good but somewhat overdone technical/progressive stuff that's been encapsulating the metal scene these days. The simplistic but groovy thrash/hardcore sound Prong were always known for is back and better than it has been for years, proving that despite a few rough years Prong have still got it.

On one hand, Tommy Victor mostly manages to prove he's still far and away one of the most interesting guitarists in the groovier side of metal, even 20+ years later. On the other... what's with the melodic metalcore vocals, bordering on pop punk at times even? The lyrics don't exactly help either. I'm sort of tempted to make a snide Machine Head comparison but let's be real this is still better. That said, "List of Grievances" deserves a dishonourable mention for being the same kind of worthless modern thrash that Exodus have been churning out since the turn of the millennium.

With 'Carved Into Stone' Tommy Victor & co have made the best Prong album since (the criminally overlooked) 'Rude Awakening' (1996).
