Keane's defining schtick is the piano, which is always used so beautifully in so many original ways. It doesn't not achieve what Under The Iron Sea does in terms of musical storytelling and piano usage, but an amazing record. I might say an underrated

Really pretty pop record and although it doesn't offer a lot more than that, rwhoever said just sounding pretty was a bad thing? This can be downright beautiful rand sometimes that's more than enough.

Looked at from the perspective of a pop album, which is exactly what this is and is meant to be, this is a pretty fantastic set of songs. You can't help but sing along and admire the beauty of tracks like "This is the Last Time", "Bedshaped", "Somewhere Only We Know" and especially the heartfelt "She Has No Time". This is an excellent album that doesn't get enough love. It may not be the most musically complex or meaningful record ever made, but to look at it from that perspective defeats the point of what "Hopes and Fears" is - a beautiful pop album.
