Real pop punk here, from real teenagers singing teenage lyrics.

This was almost the perfect Pop-Punk debut album. It is almost the album Dude Ranch became. There are some really great moments on here, like the re-hashed Carousel and the album highlight (and one of Blink's best songs) M+M's. The infectious Poppy Punk sound that went on to become Blink's trademark is apparent in tracks like Touchdown Boy - which has a tangible Dude Ranch sound - but the overall sound is rushed and unrefined. There is too much filler, with the songs re-recorded from their self-titled album making little impact and failing to distinguish themselves from the originals (with Carousel the obvious exception). However Wasting Time is one of Blink's strongest songs from the early days and an often-overlooked gem, hiding down at track 12. A solid album that set the foundation for better things to come.

i only started listening to blink around the time nine came out, and even then i barely knew a couple songs until one day i sat down and blasted through their discography, obviously starting with cheshire. instant classic, and attached to some pretty good memories. solid 4, such an exciting tracklist of fast-paced, 90's californian pop punk, even including joke songs about toilet humour and incest. such a fun album to debut a kickass band!!

This record was the starter wife to Blink 182. A perfect launching point, with brighter days
ahead. To this day I enjoy listening to it. Fast and fun record ('might call him a whore, but just
look where he's at, cause he is the one that scores"). Love me some old Blink.
My favorite tracks from the album (in no order): M+M's, Touchdown Boy, Toast and Bananas,
Carousel, Romeo and Rebecca & Wasting Time.

A highly underappreciated debut album, Cheshire Cat has a searing quantity of potential that is otherwise marred by its amount of filler. The record's anthemic style of pop punk with that evident skate attitude is certainly fun, but only while it lasts, and the vocals tend to be hit-and-miss: Tom DeLonge's whiny tone can win over any sexually-driven, teenaged girl, but he doesn't put nearly as much enthusiasm into his performance like Adam Hoppus does; this isn't saying a whole lot, but on this album, the latter's bearable. Blink-182 would eventually go on to channel their vigor and frivolity in order to hit the jackpot with the memorable releases Enema of the State, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and their self-titled effort. To summarize, Cheshire Cat is good if you adore wasting vital time loitering or doing any other activities which are sure to get you thrown in the slammer.
