I give this album props for being one of the most surreal atmospheres I've ever heard (being made by a 16-year-old who actually committed to finishing an album, one of the very few who have done so). However, if I really just wanted to listen to multiple minutes of the same sound bites being repeated on a seemingly infinite loop, then I'd go listen to Burzum.

With all the subtle glitz and glamour here, all chill atmosphere, all lax approach and a lot of annoying vocal samples that drag this down, it's both a slog and a great vibe album. Nothing blows your mind, but it's fine while it lasts, I guess (except for those vocal manipulations, which are sometimes atrocious and really album's main downfall).

"About You" is an early 2010s classic in my eyes. The slow build-up exploding into an intricate web of druggy future garage electronics, as well as the video with all these gals smoking while wearing animal masks, represented important parts of my year 2012. The problem is, the rest of the album doesn't manage to attain the first track's magnificence. It's good future garage with vaporwavey vocals, trap beats, and nods to The XX, but it's tackling too much the minimalistic approach to be fully engaging. It's when the electronics rise that it gets chilling.

I remember listening to this freshman year of college when I was really into this sort of music (you know, soundcloud-alt-rnb-trap-influenced-the-xx cover bands) and I didn't really care for it. Honestly, I think this is one of the albums that got me out of that phase. I went back and listened to it recently, and holy crap is it boring. I really don't care for this style of music at all.
