This rules. Even though the 'real' black metal elements are used quite sparsely, they actually make the whole record. The atmosphere is doomy and grim, kind of like a big black tornado swooping you (and your house) away. It's just so fucking dark and rancid, I love it.

The fantastic cover art by Justin Bartlett is probably the best indication of what to expect from this. A seriously vile, evil-sounding sludge outing with some definite, well-utilised BM elements thrown into the mix.

Lord Mantis have crafted a brilliantly vile slab of blackened sludge metal that hooks you with sickened melodic leads, a crushing atmosphere and one of the most bile inducing vocal performances that I have heard. Certainly one I'll keep coming back to with a score has the potential to increase.

This is an album that is bleak and disgusting in its own way. The artwork is extremely similar to that of Dragged into Sunlight so it had be good in the dark and disturbing sense.
