| 5.0 classic | BUK | March 7th 12 | This seems to be the most fun Ian has had in years and just maybe that feeling will be as contagious to the
listener. You get the sense that Albatross was an unbridled joy in creation. It jumps genres with ease while
remaining sincere wherever it lands. rEvery song is different in texture, space, tone and feel, yet they hang
together through their superior melodic quality, sophisticated composition and "tight but loose" approach to
production. There's hard and soft, dark and light and enough memorable hooks to keep you listening for
years.rThe reverence & reference span generations of music. Ian has absorbed much and the band is able to
deploy the pieces he's loved in fresh new ways while keeping genuine. rThere are multiple tracks which
cover the entire Big Wreck/Thornley catalog in their appeal. Fans of each phase will have something to sink
their teeth into and there's even some exciting new ground being turned over, so get ready for layers,
crunch, muscle, texture, nuance, beauty, hooks and funk!rThis is a homage to what was the cream of the
early 80's. Big wreck has officially begun to mine what was singularly unique from that silly (IMO) decade
and the results are amazing. Perhaps my favorite track on a stellar album. I've listened thousands of times
in the last year and it still rocks!

| 2.5 average | mandan | February 24th 13 | Average alt rock album. Doesn't bring at all anything new to the table. Nothing original, innovative or refreshing to hear here.

| 4.0 excellent | M72 | August 24th 12 | Probably will be the best rock album of the year easily. This is the quality of album Wasting Light by Foo Fighters should have been. Big Wreck are THE mainstream rock band of today after this album in my opinion. Unfortunately they don't get treated as such. What's great about this album is its strong melodies and that it sounds like Big Wreck and there's a very good flow/balance. They sound into it and it's a great return for them I think.

| 4.5 superb | Zelbinian | April 18th 12 | I'll tell you why this album has Big Wreck on it and not Thornley. I dig most of the Thornley stuff, I really do; there's something to be said for a guy like Ian Thornley to try be simple. But Thornley songs tend to be like holiday relatives. It's great to see 'em once a year, but they wear out their welcome pretty fast. Big Wreck songs, though - *these* songs - don't do that. In fact, even though I liked the album immediately, I'm coming back to change my rating because these songs just get better and better with every listen. Even the straight up and down stuff like "Rest of the World" is somehow more lasting when given the Big Wreck treatment. If you've ever heard a song you liked by Big Wreck or Thornley, pick this one up.
