Diva is a solid yet overlooked record by Seattle-based band My Sister's Machine. It's heavy and aggressive sound bridges perfectly the late-80s metal scene with the early-90s alternative one. The term 'grunge-metal' is not an exaggeration, given this is a collection of angry and noisy songs with raw energy and a strong rhythm section. Singer and lyricist Nick Pollock had played guitar in an early incarnation of Alice in Chains with vocalist Layne Staley, as they called themselves Alice N' Chains. As a result, the similarities with early Alice in Chains are clear and obvious here. Tony recommends: "I Hate You", "Wasting Time", "I'm Sorry", "Pain".
