Liz Harris is incapable of making bad music just as her voice is incapable of sounding bad. This might not be Grouper, but it's Groupery enough reverby almost-ambient to satisfy any Grouper/Harris fan.

Oh Liz, you're with the saddest boy in the hills. Once again we are granted with contemplative and introspective ambient folk a la Liz, and here it's the more reflective and less straight up folk tracks that work the best. That's no surprise: Liz Harris has for long been known as a master of the ethereal and mysterious. Even though she knows how to twinkle tha gueethar, the instrument always steps aside, so it lets shine what's truly the focus: the background itself. It's not the most beautiful background music she's offered us, yet one can't help but drown in it.

Wonderful little Grouper-y folk record. Most of it feels like putting your head
underwater in a warm bath with extremely soothing folk washed out in a sea of Grouper
reverb. If it weren't for tracks 2 and 5 it would be just that, in a perfect way. Track
2 is more standard folk with more generic vocals, and is nice but not a jam. Track 5 is
meh and a surprise after such the nice run 1-4, the only dysfunctional track on the album
imo. It has a weird instrumental and generic vocals.I do like its noisy ending tho. The
closer is nice but does not feel as good as 1-4. Track 1 and 4 are my faves and wonderful
jams, so soothing. I love this, but it's not the strongest record ever. 3.9

needs some higher pitched sounds but is solid overall, they need to get my brain spinning with higher octaves, its as simple as that
