It's unpleasant. It's raw. It's exhausting. But that is what makes it so goddamn perfect. Hugely influential on a number of genres - industrial metal, sludge metal, post-metal - and one of the finest releases form 1989. A timeless classic.

Ugly. If there was one word to describe this mammoth, it would be just that. You won't find anything on here catchy or technical, but rather pummeling, grinding, and atonal. Broaderick's vocals mostly consist of death barks, grunts, and chant-like singing on occasion. An industrial classic, and one of the most musically violent albums I own.

Presumably a polite alternative for Citydemolisher, Streetcleaner lays down quite the impeccable industrial-metal groundwork. It ousts humanity in that its methodical+mechanical ice cold stomp-krush hardly resembles anything remotely human, and also in that they ain't particularly compassionate when it comes to aural punishment. The kind of beefy-n-noisy negativity that could be torture if it weren't so commanding and precise, so bracing and immersive -- a stupidly well-implemented drum machine and riffage galore and an array of yells cert don't hurt either. Model Mantra: "There has to be / someone killed."

Streetcleaner is an ugly, grimy, claustrophobic listen. Crushing, heavy songs plod forward unrelentingly and project an oppressive atmosphere that is as compelling as it is uncomfortable. The drum machine is perfectly utilized, adding a mechanical undercurrent to the record that perfectly synthesizes with its soulless presence. Streetcleaner is one of the best metal albums ever recorded.

I suppose the majority of this album having a lo-fi approach might be the charming quality of this album that others may be able to appreciate, but it just doesn't really do that much for me. Still, this is an album that has influenced many future industrial artists over the years and that definitely counts for something. Still better than their Songs of Love and Hate album.

An excellent industrial metal album that creates an impressive atmosphere. The influence of this album as being one of the first of the genre can definitely be seen in virtually everything, but I especially loved the sludgy guitar riffs.

The only problem I have this album is that is creates such powerful atmosphere that you get lost in it to the point where it becomes just background noise and loses some of my attention, but I get drawn back in when another heavy riff kicks in.
