The first album from NILE I rate with full score. Every song is a phenomenal monolith of Death Metal music.

What Nile does here is create an immense atmosphere, evoking images of another world in a way few bands are capable of. The songwriting is totally out there and the tone is as low and brutal as it comes. Tony Laureano does a massive job behind the kit, perfectly complimenting this unique technical death metal.

Splendid dose of middle-easternn and melodic tech-death, if with little variation. Nile are a great band, and I enjoy them a lot. I have however always had two huge gripes with them. No variation, and ann awful drum sound. All one has is blastbeats alternatinng with clean egyptian passages with phrygian melodies overtop.

Kheftiu Asar Butchiu followed by Unas Slayer of God's fucking rippps m/m/m/. Would 4.5 this beast if there wasn't 3 absolute fillers (I may bump it though)

It's definitely lengthy but not an overwhelming bore at that. It maintains an attentive sound but fails to engage me fully. Most of the album is therefore moderately good with "Sarcophagus" being by far the best track.

The kings of Egyptian brutal death metal's third release, Nile hit the high point of their career with this one. Heavily downtuned guitars, Egyptian riffs and double bass galore, the group crafts wave after wave of sonic mayhem to throw at you, rarely relenting and always keeping the listener in check. Granted, there are some acoustic moments on the album, but the vast majority is dedicated to being as heavy as humanly possible. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. In Nile's hands, the heaviness adds another dimension to the music, unlike those who use heaviness to mask their poor songwriting ability. Including, among other things, an 11 minute death metal epic, one of the first of its kind, Nile showcases their writing prowess and craft a song that won't bore you, even throughout its length. While you won't find much variety on this album aside from heavy as hell, Nile manages to make it enjoyable throughout the album's 13 tracks. A must have for any death metal fans.
