Rap rock for party dudes and college bros instead of angst-ridden preteens. What's
refreshing about Hot Action Cop is that it's all about having stupid and shameless
fun as a teen instead of moping around as one, and it derives its energy from testosterone-
fueled themes of sex and brewskies instead of tormented aggression that wants to be taken
seriously. Hot Action Cop could care less about taking themselves seriously, or finding
middle ground between nu metal and post-grunge like the countless other bands that fuse rap
and rock, and it's clear that their one and only priority is turning up the funky grooves in
their music past eleven as much as they can. Even though it may just merely replicate the
most generic qualities of the 90's Red Hot Chili Peppers-esque funk rock instead of putting
their own unique twist on the sound, Hot Action Cop made rap rock fun again with this album,
and that's something to be commended even if it is only mediocre music for strictly fun
purposes.

In the same class as Limp Bizkit just a tad superior. Yes its bad, "fun" in a American Pie was a 'classic' film type of manner of thinking.

The one word to define this album is fun. Forget its derivativeness and sometimes moronic
lyrics and just enjoy Tim Flaherty's excellent guitar work and Rob Werthner's catchy
vocals.rSome tracks really stand out, such as the Chili-esque Why Judy with social
commentary of Busted, and funky The Special and acoustic closer In A Little
While. They are quite an unusual little band, successfully merging nu-metal and funk
rock as Beebe said and while having a sexual theme, are not pulled down by the spitefulness
of Limp Bizkit and not becoming to moronic or misogynistic to be enjoyable. HAC's not for
everyone but there's no doubt it's entertaining.
