This album isn't as good as their first one, but still is an extremely good album, if I do say so myself. Every chorus here is catchy and original, and the singer's voice is incredible! You either love them or you don't, and I love them! Favourite's are: Devil in a Midnight Mass, Red Flag, This Suffering, Pins and Needles.

This album's all about being a kid in the 2000s, barspins and ollies, shows, moshing, catchy sing-along tunes, searching for your own Identity through music. But It's also so punkrock-esque with Its political lyrics ("Red Flag", "Worker bees"), so gut-wrenching when it intends to be ("Surrender", "Pins and needles") and it makes you want to rage and punch with joy at times ("Devil in a midnight mass").

fuck u davezilla that is pure canadian-polish accent vox that must be preserved for all
eternity, and ian d'sa is a god; devil 3.5 fun fact went to school with the kid in the music vid
(he's a dwarf) also did a weird al version of this called my left eye without the glass referring
to losing a contact and thus having difficulty coordinating, demo version of this sounds
interesting; red flag 4 loved the song so much in elementary omg never reconnected until hs;
suffering 3.5 another addictive track; worker bees 3 this is the weirdest and most awkward track
theyve ever written when i listened to the full actual album the first time i was like wtf is this
cuz every other track would get played everywhere all the time, regardless still has a strong
chorus like everything they did back then and always wins me over by the end despite my initial
reaction to wanting to delete it but then dat chor comes in and im like omg; pins and needles 3.5
as trv and full of pathos as can be over a breakup/romantic failure; fallen leaves ive listened to
this shit too much for it to make the trv impact it once did but realistically a 4; line 3 better
written than bees yet too simple, just kind of romps on but good message n d'sa carries it more
than ben does; cowardice 2.5 filler track tho it contains ben's best and most believable screams;
surrender 5 love this song so much, the melody, the d'sa back vox, the desperation, the pathos,
the irony of wanting her to surrender then eventually surrendering himself, somehow tragic despite
nothing actually happening, the double irony of it being so cringe in concept yet so amazing in
execution, basically perfect song; navy song 4 another of their best songs, fun but hard and full
of pathos, d'sa again taking such a strong lead to make it work, the entire track sounding like
the undulations of a ship at sea from smaller to larger waves to heavy gunfire in the midst of
ocean warfare; perfect 2.5 another filler track chorus is rocky but dumb track for the most part,
the ctrl alt del lyric especially cringe af; sympathy fuck me this is trash why didnt the album
end already its long enough total fucking filler track so much for getting this to 4 overall fuck
me have a 2; burn the evidence 2.5 one final filler diller track why end so poorly omg final score

Billy Talent continue to produce extremely catchy songs, but this time around go for more of a pop punk sound. Not that I'm complaining, they still have almost all of the aggressiveness that they had on their self titled. II feels more like a collection of songs because of this, and what a collection it is. Almost every song on here has potential to become your favourite song on the album, in fact I've found over the years my favourite song shifting from one to another. Burn the Evidence which used to be one of my least favourites on there is now one of my favourites. For me this is another classic from BT.

They toned it down a little, and in the process secured there position among the elite rockers in Canada. Though the first track, Devil in a Midnight Mass is reminiscent of the debut album, one that could be a 13th track on the first album, one that makes you say..so..i hear your still angry..but it is still a great track. After the first track, they tone it down a notch but keep rolling even smoother than the first album straight to the finish.
The highlight tracks would include Devil in a Midnight Mass, Red Flag, Pins and Needles, This Suffering, Fallen Leaves and Surrender.
But overall the whole album was a jewel. There were no bad tracks on this disc, not even a sub-par track, every track was exceptional on this album.
The album raked in 5 Juno nominations, which they took home 2 of. They also pulled together 11 MMVA (MuchMusic Video Award) nominations and won 3 of them.
This album gave Billy Talent its complete set of wings. And then some.
The Verdict: this is it.

My favorite band about 3 years ago. Used to love them, and I would blast their songs walking to school. I grew up, and the heavily punk influenced scratching rock didn't come with me. Still an alright album. (Feel the same way about their first album.)

I like this album more than the first one but for odd reasons, while it may not have reached the same momentus feel that the first did that really seemed to define alot of us as young teenagers. This album marks the bands growing up and making some songs that really seem to mean something.
The entire album is very good and easy to get into and listen to. However if you have a problem with Ben's voice then you simply won't like this album or their past one.
As well their style is well retained and you never once feel like they betrayed their past style. However my previous comment means that lyrically they group up and their music is simply more refined.
