Contains some cool songs like, Pure, Driving Nowhere, Exactly What You Wanted and Insatiable but kind of a bland follow up to Betty. Tries to recapture the glory of Meantime but falls short.

Oh, this album. It takes their sound to a more melodic side, and man, it certainly works. The album feels like a natural step for the band after "Betty", and it's a mix of all that Helmet had done before it(maybe except Strap It On). Standouts are (High) Visibility, Driving Nowhere and Pure.

Aftertaste has its moments ("Like I Care"!!) but overall seems generic when compared to Meantime and Betty. However, still leagues ahead of most of what their 'peers' were putting out at the time.

More of the same from Helmet, and that is not a bad thing. Several tracks found on "Aftertaste" are actually probably a step above those featured on "Betty", but the album doesn't have the natural flow and variation of "Betty". I will say that there is more actual singing as opposed to the mostly barked gruff vocals found on previous releases which is nice at times. Still, you can't go wrong with anything Page Hamilton touches and this is no exception.
