5.0 classic | BRAman22 | June 9th 14 | This album is like a journey with how many different sounds and tempos it cycles through, even within the same songs. Clearly this album is extremely progressive. The instrumental, Confusion of Tongues, has some of the coolest riffs you'll have heard in awhile. The faster parts of this album were when it was at its best. That's not to say that the slower parts were bad, they weren't, but they just didn't capture the same excitement as the one's that just blast ahead. The vocals also really add a lot to the album. None of the parts are long enough to start to get boring, so this stays sounding new and fresh throughout.

4.0 excellent | maninthebox | May 23rd 14 | While Dwellings isn't a step down from Metazoa for the mighty Cormorant it is definitely different in many ways. First off this release settles on a more cohesive sound, trading in the hundreds of influences found on the debut for a more folk oriented form of melodic black/death metal. This sound is the strongest point of the album but at the same time the one flaw. Around the last two 9 minute songs it does begin to tire. Still the album has a whole still feels fresh and lively jumping from one progressive epic to another. The instrumentation as always is another strong suit, just jam to the aptly titled instrumental "Confusion of Tongues" and tell me it doesn't fully engage you for its full run time. This album sees Cormorant trying and succeeding at nailing down a sound, in the future I expect them to even further perfect this unique take on metal. Best Songs: Funambulist, Confusion of Tongues, and Junta

4.0 excellent | Cyan1d3 | November 28th 11 | Cormorant revises their sound somewhat while still retaining what made Metazoa great. A fantastic album from a consistently improving band.
