It made for an awkward listen at first spin---bad production, worse vocal takes---but it did prefigure everything that were to occupy the young band's interest in the (brilliant) near future (for future): angular post-punk with spidery lead guitars that indulges in both traditional melodicism and futuristic forays into the fringes of tonal consonance, and lyrics that tried to touch on the deeper aspects of love and sex (which achieved its intended goal successfully, unfortunately, only on their albums that are released after 1990). Not their best pre-90's album, but it's a pretty decent one.
