A very heavy plodding doom album that creates a dark feeling. The main thing working against this album is that a few of the songs go on longer than they should, thus becoming boring.

This is a classic within the stoner rock genre. It successfully manages to combine doom, stoner, and sludge metal into one. Standout cuts like "Funeralopolis" and the title track give Dopethrone its epic feel. The songs typically start out slow and somehow increase their intensity; it manages to creep up on you at some points.

The only album I have heard from these guys, and this is sheer proof that drugs might actually be a good thing. This has some of the best riffs I've heard in a long while (and I've taken a listen to High on Fire). Whisky, mary jane, that one metal chick you'd love to bang until she's all worn out, and BALLS in a nice manly and trippy experience.

This is is a noisy, layered, and aggressive record that is more ambitious then it lets on. Indeed, through its distorted, hazy production, sludgy downtuned riffage, and repetitious nature, it successfully encapsulates the stoner metal genre. Despite that repetition, it never gets boring, though - this is a superb example of using riffs to create an engrossing atmosphere rather than create bombast, in the tradition of the best black metal and post-rock. The vocals are excellent, too, alternately melodious and furious.

This is the album that actually got me into doom. After that I started getting into the genre, and the whole thing that could compare to Dopethrone to me was another EW release, Come My Fanatics, but that just couldn't match Dopethrone. None have so far.

I stumbled across the title track while watching a video summarizing the various metal
genres. The sound of it was instantly appealing, and I had only known about the one song for
a while. I remember being stunned by that minute of sustain. I finally gave a listen to the
full thing throughout my day, and I got a headache. A good headache, though. It was a poor
choice to listen to this album before the other ones. Nothing sounds as good as Dopethrone
so far. Not even close. "Weird Tales" is still one of my favorite songs out of anything on
my phone.
