Strong 3 - Ambitious, Interesting, but ends with a lot to be desired. So this is how ,,Poison The Well'' started, well It's quite strange listening to ,,Poison the well'' without jeffrey Moreira's contrast between deep screaming and his quite shy vocal delivery. But all of this aside, Let's jump into this album. ,,Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder'' Opens up with ,,Grain Of Salt'' kicking off with catchy rhythm guitar and great work on ,,dueling'' vocal delivery, this is probably the most memorable song on the whole ep, as it has catchy chorus and very catchy yet quite intelligent melodic guitar playing.,,Torn'' my own favorite, opening up with extremely melodic and memorable picking, and is very melodic and smart throughout , plus this song is the closest this album gets to ,,Opposite of December'' songwritingwise. another highlight would be the song ,,Obstacle'' with ever changing riffs and very unorthodox structure, afterall this song has very strong ending with very sludgey riff and extremely heavy production. sadly this little ep closes with somewhat underwhelming ,,Material christ'' not a bad song, just not good enough for closer, this song just doesn't bring anything new or anywhat interesting to the table. Instrumentation is very solid throughout this whole album, melodic guitar passages soaring over the music, very memorable guitar work and solid drumming. Vocals aren't on the same level as they are on some other releases, the lyrics are sometimes a bit cringey, but it works for the band at this point in their career. Production isn't bad for metalcore in 98, but comparing this to some of their later works, with clean precise and very lush production, this thing is just not as good.
