Close your Eyes were a gateway hardcore bands for me in highschool, alongside STYG and very early
Beartooth. I decided to revisit their whole discography as I hadn't heard them in a while, and
this album couldn't have aged more gracefully. Even though all 3 of their albums have a special
place in my heart, EH&HH is definitely their magnum opus and an excellent hardcore album.

"Empty Hands and Heavy Hearts" is one of the albums that i listened to most in my adolescence, being always very pleasant to revisit this sound to remember good moments. Close Your Eyes was a very famous band at that time, precisely because it came from Victory Records. The sound is very original and unique for a new band. What always stood out were Shane's vocals, and his departure is still kind of controversial to me (even if he returned a few years later). Finally, i always like to quote "Valleys" as one of the definitive anthems of my musical life.

With strong clean vocals with a raspy edge to them that only boosts the backing melodic instrumentals, Close Your Eyes have realized their hidden potential present in their last album and have tapped into it to create an excellent album, improving in almost all aspects from their debut.

They've grown up. I typically encourage bands to move on from their previous work, but this sadly disappoints me. I miss their cheery ring they had on WWO. Elotheos is the only other band I can think of that gave me that feeling.

I've always thought that their sound just sounded so contrived. I don't know. I typically love bands in this poppunk/hardcore genre, but CYE just doesn't do it for me.

I feel like they copy and paste the same drum fills in every song. Also, it's like if I compiled the album into one song, besides the screaming, all the clean vocals sound the same.

They need to string together more songs like paper thin. Overall, quite catchy with each track providing it's own little charm.

After a few more listens, i'll give the record another .5 because I think they deserve it. I love how much it reminds me of Comeback Kid.

Great album, but couldnt help to notice an absence of Bassist/Screamer Sonny. Not really complaining but always thought he performed great on WWO.

As one of the many bands who tread the line between clean upbeat pop-punk and harsher melodic hardcore, Close Your Eyes bring just the right mix of anthemic hooks and beat-driven to satisfy their fans. The passionate vocals never seem forced or faked, but limits the replay value of the album.

Still new to me so I haven't grown into it as much as their debut so my rating may change, but still loving this none the less. Band is awesome. Only complaint is they pretty much completely did away with the bassists screams.

This is soooo much better than their debut, which was remarkably average. This has some intensity and doesn't sound like the vocalist is 15 feet away yelling apathetically into the microphone. The melodic hardcore edge to this makes it quite a bit better even if it is riddled with clean singing.

I'm glad this band went in the right direction. However, they have some incredibly generic lyrics which definitely takes away from the album a bit.
