4.5 superb | cjbizzlebizzle | February 19th 18 | Somewhere between powerviolence and crusty grindcore Full of Hell started out with an absolute gem. Roots of Earth... contains some of the grimiest, aggressive and dirty grindcore of recent memory. The album simultaneously feels energizing and inspiring like great hardcore albums as it feels like a true torturous nightmare; the combined feelings are wonderful. The vocals are the centerpiece right off the bat with solid death growls juxtaposed to some of the harshest, blood curdling screams out there. The underlying instruments are noisy, dissonant and anvil heavy. There is enough groove and rhythm to keep it from being old school grind but not so much that you approach anywhere near Nails territory. Last but not least the songwriting provides a contrast between slow noisy reverb breakdowns and sludgey grindcore riffs that allows the album to flow stunningly for the entire playtime. Not a single moment is wasted and Roots of Earth Are Consuming My Home is an essential grind/powerviolence record and a record that still defines who Full of Hell are.

3.0 good | Bedex | July 7th 20 | This is cool, but it feels like it is mostly designed for the live setting (in which it is dope that's true). Like the sudden acceleration and fat sludge sections often seem to be designed to induce moshpits and fat headbanging. In terms of at-home listening unfortunately that yields a feeling of contrived and a slightly random structure imo. Plus a lot of the sections between the aggressive parts feel a bit awkward, and the tempo is often off even when the onslaught is on. The intro track starting on electronic chaos into classic full of hell aggression is dope at first, but after it explodes it feels a bit meh. 2 is super fat, and 3 is a lot more complex than its simple yet effectively fun beginning suggests. Some of the sections are dark and really cool, some work less well. 4 is a fun FoH track, and 5 is super cool with its electronic noise+shouts. No wonder they collabed with Merzbow, this sounds like Prurient. 6 again is fun but feels like it belongs in a show more than a studio album, and after 7 that feeling starts to get a bit old. 8 is great and ominous, but 9 is boring. After an interlude, the concluding track is more of the same, but I did dig the sludgey part especially near the end. Don't think I'll come back to this. 3.2

3.3 great | Erwann S. STAFF | July 16th 19 | Powerviolence/noise/sludge/grindcore/crust/metalcore. IT'S ROUGH. Not a lot of variety from this violence, but it's efficient as hell to punch you in the face.

3.5 great | BtwntheAKIRAndMe | August 2nd 15 | High 7 out of 10: On their debut LP, Full of Hell brings quite a lot to the table to prove that they are a very worthy hardcore act. There are some screws that need to be tightened, and then they'll be one of, if not the best hardcore band in the 2010s.
