3.5 great | Jones | January 13th 12 | I'm surprised Enter Shikari get hated on as much as they do on here. They don't deserve to be lumped with bands like The Devil Wears Prada and are far from "shit". Calling a band shit should be saved for bands who genuinely are, such as Brokencyde.rAlbum rules, though it has certain flaws in it, such as Pack Of Thieves' transition from huge chorus to electronic drop, it doesn't fit at all.
Rating change: Bumped this down from 4 to 3.5, Enter Shikari's albums as a full package seem to be very weak in the case of lasting value. Whilst the songs are good, the album just doesn't strike me enough as a whole to come and back and listen to over and over again.

0.0 | | January 20th 12 | With a disjointed structure, overemphasis on their political views and the garbled electronics, Enter Shikari has made an album that doesn't stand up to the original sound on their last two albums and instead changes their formula to experiment and convey ideas, with very mediocre results.

2.5 average | Trebor. EMERITUS | January 12th 12 | This is getting really good reviews all over the place, but honestly it's just average. It's not even as good as their last album, and the attempted dubstep parts are annoying. The production is pretty bad too. Like it sounds like they only recorded one guitar track. I mean who the hell records only one guitar track in this day and age?

3.5 great | Jared Floryan | January 12th 15 | (9/24/17): Revisiting British rock quartet Enter Shikari's third full-length as well as reading the album title aloud, 'A Flash Flood of Colour' couldn't have been a more apt name. Though planted firmly in modern post-hardcore, the record also showcases the band's insistence on infusing the aforementioned pxhc style with various electronic, metal, and rock subgenres. Even within ES' discography, it contains hands down some of the group's most diverse-sounding material. Judging the offering alone without comparing it to other releases, Flash Flood of Colour is intriguing as it is enjoyable. The level of compositional ability is very inconsistent on a song-by-song basis and Rou Reynolds' lyricism is super cheesy (though thematically well intentioned), but for what it's worth, one would be hard-pressed to find themselves having a boring time throughout Shikari's third affair's 42-minute runtime. Angel recommends: "...Meltdown," "Search Party," "Stalemate," "Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here," and "Pack of Thieves."

4.5 superb | SteeleShikari | January 13th 12 | This album is amazing. Creativity, variety, a message. I mean come on what more do you want. Many haters on Sputnik that hate this band for some reason, but who gives a fuck you know this album sounds great.

2.3 average | Erwann S. STAFF | February 2nd 22 | Wah I should def have listened to this when it came out, would have scratched that core boi X dubstep'n'bass aficionado vibe I had. Now it sounds like a not-well-done mishmash of hype genres with very lil subtility. Some tiny parts invoked nostalgia for a dead era, and some choruses were farking anthemic, but apart from these ~moments~ it's a no-no.

3.5 great | Beej977 | February 25th 15 | Slowly going off this band and their album ratings are dropping accordingly.
Bump |
1.5 very poor | Comatorium. | February 8th 15 | After the effortless melding of genres displayed on new album "The Mindsweep," this album's hackneyed shoehorning of electronica and metalcore is painfully unsatisfying, and the politically fueled spoken words sections are cheesy and far too numerous. The transitions between these three elements are as subtle as a bag of bricks being thrown down a flight of stairs. By far the low point in ES's discography, and thank fuck they recovered from this mess.

3.0 good | BeneaththeDarkOcean | August 10th 13 | The best mix of metalcore and dubstep yet produced, with some of the best political lyrics this side of RATM. Also has a major prog edge to the songwriting structure.

0.0 | EddieMarais | February 20th 13 | I understand that stylistic progression is good for a band; it stops their music becoming stale and allows them to experiment with other genres. One thing I don't get, however, is bands who tone down to the point of irrelevance everything that made their music good, and pump up the smaller, less popular aspects of their back catalogue. Gone are the shrieks and snarls from Take To The Skies , gone are the melodic, well balanced periods of clean vocals and gone is the thoroughly post-hardcore instrumentalism. Here, Enter Shikari are nothing but a heavily dubstep influenced shadow of their former selves. Reynolds was seemingly so consumed in putting forward a throughly anti-state message that he forgot to write some good music with which he could carry his point forward.

4.0 excellent | Supertails | August 14th 12 | This was one of the first times I'd heard a post-hardcore album. And I'm glad it was this one, because it drew me in during every second.rFrom the acoustic-to-electronic balladry of 'Stalemate' to the political-rant-turned-dubstep 'Gandhi Mate, Gandhi' to the spoken-word 'Constellations', the album absolutely captivated me. I loved the mix of genres, I loved it when it was at its slowest and when it was at its white-knuckled rampage pace.rIt's a brilliant fusing of electronica and metal, and I can't wait to check out their other stuff after this.

3.5 great | Pennywise_M | June 6th 12 | Finally, there is something plain positive to say about these guys. Energetic, full of momentum, unique and a great message as always, perhaps even more polished. An amazing, solid fusion between post-hardcore and electronic genres. Enter Shikari at their best.

3.5 great | Blixnstraten | February 5th 12 | It's a great album. It's not excellent and it's definitely not classic. Common Dreads came out years ago and I'm less 'over it' than AFFOC. There is a certain element lacking in a lot of the songs, The album dosen't flow, like Common Dreads and Take to the Skies did and little things like the end of Sssnakepit just bring it all down to the score it deserves.r-Coming from a huge fan.

4.0 excellent | InFiction | January 19th 12 | At first I was skeptical of this album, due to the lack of the once promised 'Destabilise' and 'Quelle Surprise', both of which are fantastic songs. But as it turns out, this record is innovative, meaningful and above all, a lot of fun. No filler and not one skippable track. Even my once hated 'Gandhi Mate, Gandhi' works well within the context of the album, and 'Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here' might be my favourite ever Enter Shikari song.
Bump |
3.5 great | alextheantichrist | January 18th 12 | Enter Shikari seem to be evolving into a successful band and A Flash Flood of Colour is their best album yet. It's more balanced with the Post-Hardcore and the Electronica. One of my favorite tracks on here is Constellations which is definitely an amazing way to end an album. Give this a chance.
