The fast stuff got meteoric. This record is speed for speed's sake and sounds like almost dispensed from structure. It's basically one massive explosion lasting for 26 minutes. One can still spot melodies among the noise, showing that even at their most hardcore and noisy, their songs were just folk rock tunes played at light speed with an extreme volume. Still, this is too messy for its own sake.

A lot of people seem to misunderstand this album, saying things like "This isn't Husker Du yet". They aren't listening closely enough. Serious pop edge meet ear bleeding feedback. You're welcome.

Holy fuck, this album is pissed. There are literally no stops between songs to catch your breath, no songs below 200 BPM, and little melody; this is fast, aggressive hardcore. Of course though, the problems arise from a complete lack of variety and endless relentlessness that can wear on the ears. Of course, that was their intention, but what they would later go on to do was much more impressive. Plus, the production is rather poor, with the drums being pushed all the way in the back. The title says it all, if you want an explosion in musical form, jam this at full fucking volume. Full length review coming soon
