Album absolutely crushes. Gives you everything about black metal that you want while remaining accessible. You get the strong, high vocals you expect of black metal, the drumming barrage that carries you from beginning to end, guitars that set up an impenetrable, gloomy/bleak atmosphere and dark, brooding, malignant ethos that is BLACK METAL m//////

I'm not as into black metal as I was, but listening to this again, this is actually a very
excellent record, very good mix of melody and thick walls of sound. Extremely underrated
album.

I enjoyed the singing. The male vocals are, in my opinion, above average for random clean vocals that make it into extreme metal songs. I especially enjoyed the lower notes in "Realm of a Thousand Burning Souls."
