How sad it is to be practicing tenaciously for years and years, to put your heart and soul
to master the music theory and have ZERO talent at songwriting. Writing songs that have no
value at all and no one will remember after years. Players like Steve Vai epitomize the
generation of guitarists who only value technical proficiency and wankery instead of
constructing listenable and interesting songs. They can be very impressive with a guitar
but when it comes down to the actual music, they've got NOTHING AT ALL to say...

This is definitely an album for the more adventurous music listeners out there, and it satisfies. With Devin Townsend's vocals, Terry Bozzio's drumming, T.M. Stevens' Bass work, and Steve Vai's guitars, there's no doubt that this is an over the top band, and album. Love it.

Quite enjoyable. It still definitely has that signature 80's sound, but the addition of HevyDevy vocals (at least to this individual) makes the listening experience 10 times better. Still... this album hits just under the "worth checking out" line... unless, like me, you're horrifically gay for Devin Townsend. 3.74/5
