The Prodigy has always had a reputation for making massive albums. I don't just mean massive in length, but in sound as well. There is rarely a dull moment to be found with The Prodigy. That again rings true on Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned. This 2004 release received mixed reviews, but it has aged well a decade later. Some of their best tracks are found on this record in the form of "Spitfire", "Memphis Bells" and "Phoenix". Another interesting song is "Medusa's Path", which is one of the few songs in The Prodigy's discography that does not contain a vocal sample. Though the album drags a bit in the middle, The Prodigy still manage to excite on this record. If this is the worst thing they've made, I'd say they have a collection of albums that they can be proud of.

What happens when you take the hard and in you face attitude of The Fat of the Land and the sample crazy, dance anthems of Experience?
That's pretty much the easiest way to describe Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned, which undoubtedly is the second best album by The Prodigy, only behind Music for the Jilted Generation.
Sure a few songs bomb out (Get Up Get Off, Shoot Down first come to mind) but are far easily outweighed by the sheer brilliance of the Thriller-sampling The Way It Is, the modern updates of both Up, Up and Away and Love Buzz (Hotride and Phoenix, respectively) and far and away the best on the album, Medusa's Path.

If anyone else did this album, it would get a lot more praise, but Prodigy made this album. They also released 3 of the greatest Electronica albums ever. So this sounds very bad compared to other releases. The album shows flashes of Brilliance with the infinately awesome "Girls" and "Memphis Bells" which are more than worthy to be called some Of Liam Howlett's best work. Unfortunately, this is as good as the album gets. Uninspired songs, and shotty Guest appearences, including two collabs with Julliette Lewis (Yes, Her. She Sings) Makes the album the worst listen of Prodigy's (Once) Illustrious career.
